There are 16000 people on the SA list and they claim they will have 1000 new homes by the end of the year. absolute bullshit ontop of the fact there are empty homes due to Chinese investment and other shady shit.

I was looking at some new builds around Keysborough. For a small(ish) 3-4 bedroom house on a 400m block (which would have counted as a unit 20 years ago) you're looking at 1.2 million. In fucking Keysborough. For something decent on a quarter block 1.5 million up. That's not accounting for the fact that all of the newly built stuff is constructed from cardboard and saliva that maybe will last a decade without major rectification.

Our first home was purchased back in 2005. We paid 300K for a 5 bedroom house on a 800m corner block in a much nicer suburb than Keysborough. Young people are so fucked right now.

To many jeets not enough houses. Immigration is leading to collapsing living standards for working people. It's unsustainable. The RBA putting rates up will not solve the problem as this is a supply issue caused by an incontinent migration policy not wage inflation or consumer demand.
 
alright i was thinking about how someone would still have to take a dinghy to land sometimes to buy beer (not me because i have dibs on captain) and i figured it all out

firstly, we acquire a used oil talker (or gas or whatever, something with a bunch of smaller fluid containers probably). i don't know what those cost. i'll check ebay later.
then we brand ourselves as an order of... epicurean monks or something. and we MAKE the beer in the world's biggest floating brewery and sell it to hipsters, and we never run out of beer, so we can always go fishing.

people around the world will be very excited when the beer boat is coming into port. no nation will touch us

and with all this sea beer money we can just float around posting on the internet, secretly looking for sunken treasure

Can't remember where it was, might have been here, but someone posted a chink advert that was looking for a cleaner for 'empty houses'. They got that many lying vacant they needed a full time cleaner

The govt's allowed foreign interest to use housing as investment, rather than a basic need. Trump's banned Blackstone et al from buying homes in the US, but they're snapping them up here. Any new or coming to the market homes get bought up by buyer's agents before they even get listed. Lil' Anfony's yeeting in the jeeting at a rate of 1,500 per DAY, adding massively to demand which is pushing prices beyond insanity. And there isn't the political will to change it because pollies all have huge property portfolios, and the public homeowners just cackle with glee everytime a govt 'housing relief' con pushes prices up even higher.

It's estimated that due solely to Al-bikini mass importing walking shitstains, the demand is going to further DOUBLE house prices by 2030 - by which time, if Reichsführer-SS Klaus Schwab has his way, we'll all be owning nothing and eating bugs, anyway.

ALL of it, and all the other BS going on due to a small handful of rich families and their bought stooges in govts. It's why aliens don't visit

according to google they can hold somewhere between 50 to 500 million litres. i guess that depends on our price range.
we'll have to use some of that as grain silos (and convert some space for bottling) though.
and animal feed for the farm up on deck if people agree with me on that. it'd be nice to have some cows imo. not as a forums joke. just in case we get sick of eating fish.

I lucked out and didn't need to rent, so I skipped straight to buying and it's a lot cheaper than 90% of the rentals in my area. Even better is the previous owner wasn't interested in waiting very long to sell the place, otherwise some investment firm from Sydney was gonna buy the place.
 
If there's a housing pricing collapse then a lot of niggas aren't even going to be able to sell anywhere near the prices they're buying for and are gonna be stuck with mountains of debt.

Doesn't seem worth it right now to even bother with trying to buy a house. Land is maybe worth it though if it's a decent deal.

The problem with land is there's rules about how long you're allowed to leave a lot vacant.

If you're a multinational corpo, you can keep it vacant for ever and if you get fined then just pay the fine and claim that as a loss on tax.

If you're a normal person, you can bend over. The government needs that money for Hijabis and their 6 kids each.
 
My brother pays $850 a week for a 4 bed place. That's the entire minimum wage every week. The cheapest 1 bed is for old farts only and is still $350 a week and we aren't even in a city or surrounding suburb. Good luck to anyone trying to save up for a deposit to escape rental hell. I gave up in 2021 and it's significantly worse now.

This is the question I'm struggling with. It seems not worth it to try and buy a house right now because it's just going to be something in some suburb that is closer to Africa than anywhere I would actually want to live - which has the knock on effect of saddling me with shit tons of debt for something I literally do not want and would not enjoy.

On top of that, with employment the way it is right now being tied to a single place is kinda difficult.

But if you don't buy then you're going to be getting raped for rent that doesn't go anywhere except into the landlords pocket.
