A $40,000 Marvel Rivals tournament has created chaos in the community. Here’s the full rundown on the Kingsman265 situation and why the streamer was removed from the event.
Over the years, plenty of Twitch creators have been put together on random teams to play for big cash prizes in Twitch Rival events. Some have gone pretty well, with new friendships being born out of the random pairings.
However, on January 18, Twitch streamer Kingsman265 was booted from his team in preparation for a $40,000 Marvel Rivals tournament hosted by BasimZB. The streamer had told one of his teammates to stop playing as Black Widow, urging them to swap to different characters for better team composition.
“Guys, I want to win the game, and I know what will work and what won’t work. I’ve played this game for thousands of hours, ok?” he told viewers after a fiery set of practice games ended.
“I’ve been rank one before, I’ve been top 500 on every role. I’m very accomplished, I know what I’m doing, I’m not being egotistical about it, I’m simply stating the facts. I’m just here to win the tournament, I need that money, I’m f**king broke, I like money, and $3000 is a lot of money for me,” he added, noting he’d use it to pay part of his college tuition before realizing that he’d been removed from the team.
Cece addresses Kingsman being removed from event
Kingsman’s YouTube video on the situation has amassed over 1 million views already, with many viewers questioning his former teammates.
One of those involved, Cece, addressed it during his January 20 stream, claiming that the streamer was removed for saying “disrespectful things” about the event and the team.
“Basim was not having it. He asked me, and I was like ‘if you think so’. Lowkey, I didn’t want the disrespect either. I didn’t want somebody on the team who was constantly going to s*it-talk us to his chat.”
The team was eventually eliminated in seventh position in the tournament, while the winning team won using the composition that Kingsman had been advocating for.
Cece apologizes to Kingsman265
She later apologized for calling Kingsman a “loser” over the drama and that she should have handled it better as captain.
“I also apologize for calling Kingsman a loser. And I should not have read that chat in the first place. It was very disrespectful as Kingsman was just trying to win. And as a leader, I needed to lead without emotions and a clear view. I said good vibes are important, but failed to create that properly,” she posted on X.

Despite being removed from the team, Kingsman has found success on Twitch in the aftermath of the drama.
“This is ridiculous, you have to stop. I’ve already made more than the $3000 that I would have won for first place in the tournament, so stop giving me money,” he said after going live on January 20 and being met by hundreds of new viewers.

Cece dropped by sponsor after Marvel Rivals tournament drama
Cece has since been publicly dropped by one of her sponsors in the aftermath of the drama. Infinity Mice, an esports peripherals company, released a statement on January 21, revealing that they have cut ties with the player over her behavior.
“While we have worked together previously, we do not support behavior that targets or disrespects other creators. As a result, we will not be continuing any partnership moving forward,” they wrote.
“We believe in keeping competition respectful, and we wish everyone the best going forward.”
The company also claimed that they are attempting to contact Kingsman in response to a commenter who suggested they gift him some of their products as consolation for the ordeal.
Kingsman and Cece continue tournament spat on social media
Kingsman and Cece have had a dispute on social media in the fallout of the situation, exchanging tweets and sharing screenshots of Discord messages as the spat continues.
On January 21, Kingsman shared a series of screenshots of his conversations with Cece on Discord in a public Google Doc, which took place the day after he’d been kicked from the team and posted his tell-all video.
In the messages, Cece can be seen asking Kingsman to help put a stop to the harassment she was receiving online as a result of his video, claiming that he’d taken a clip of her “out of context.”
“Thank s for throwing me under the f**king bus and into unlimited harassment for x amount of weeks, if not months,” she wrote. “Get your f**king clicks now, all because your own actions got you banned and you can’t accept that.”
Kingsman refused to take it down, arguing he hadn’t taken anything out of context, and later refused to engage with Cece any further.
Cece responded to the screenshots on X, saying, “I made a quote tweet. These DMs say the time stamp is today, but it was immediately after I uploaded my video and saw all those hate comments for the first time saying I was the ring leader who got you kicked. When I AM NOT. I’ll take the screenshots insulting you to the chin, but it is not proof of me talking with kaplunk.”
Kingsman retorted with two additional screenshots of Discord messages, one of which showed Cece telling a user to “kys.”
Infinity Mice also responded to Kingsman’s post sharing the Google Doc, apologizing on behalf of Cece and asking to send him a free mousepad to make up for the situation.
