Greenland doesn't have a high enough population or enough infrastructure to effectively govern itself. If the USA took Greenland it would cost billions in taxes to even make the country remotely functional. If Greenland had an issue over all of these years with Denmark going out of its way to funnel money into it and provide free healthcare and all of the benefits of being a Dane then they would have succeeded by now. Do you really think that the people of Greenland, who live in an icy hellscape far removed from any civilization and opportunities, really want to give up Denmark's generous social welfare system for the USA's nonexistent one?
