Try to imagine Vicky’s end game. What is her ultimate goal?
The simple answer is that she probably doesn't have one. The longer answer is something I didn't mean to write so much about but this post just kinda happened.
I've worked with addicts, street bums and deadbeat parents. People who are not only on life's bottom rung, but are determined to stay there. Something they all have in common is that they don't think ahead more than a couple of days. If they get any money, they spend it immediately. In many cases this is attributed to very poor people having a hand-to-mouth existence whereby income must be spent to keep it out of the hands of debt collectors. But I'm not sure I buy it, 99% of poor people get by and don't become street bums. There's something deep and psychological that makes them refuse to consider the future. I've seen homeless bums skip out on interviews to get long-term housing because they got a hotel room for a night and genuinely don't see the need because they are warm and dry right now and they are therefore ok.
Many poorcows on the Farms spend their money on stupid shit. Lou Gagliardi with his deformed weasel fursonas, Polissa Campbell buying decorations for a trailer rather than spend money fixing its dysfunctional plumbing. Tophiachu spending $400 at ComiCon despite her family being so destitute they lived in a car - a situation caused by their insane father not bothering to pay the rent on their last apartment. Countless ebeggars spending their precious money on the most astoundingly stupid shit, justifying it as "self-care" or whatever idiocy.
There's a lot of factors in play. Poverty isn't the only one, as Vicky, as well as many munchies, come from wealthy families. I think that unintelligent people can be swept up in consumerism, which increasingly encourages people to live beyond their means. I saw
a really good Youtube video about the Disney Adult phenomenon that says that modern Western society is all about regression back to childhood. Brands like Lego and Disney don't market to children any more, they market to manchildren and womanchildren. People who don't want to grow up. This nails the munchie phenomenon as well. It's about not wanting to have adult responsibilities, and it's caught up in this weird coalition of left-wing ideology and megacorporations. The Left blames capitalism for everything, yet by saying that identifying as a victim absolves you of adult responsibilities, it encourages the very consumerism they should be against. Almost all these people have some kind of victim identity - troon, black, gay, disabled, and also act like children - troons don't dress like adult women, they dress like little girls. They idolise childhood, where you don't have to think about tomorrow because mommy will take care of tomorrow. And the addicts I worked with were like that. They would squabble and fight like little kids over the dumbest shit, except everyone had knives and it was terrifying.
They also have a shared victim mentality and an external locus of control. For these people, their situation is never the result of their choices, it's the result of external forces. They just sit there and life happens to them. What's the point of making future plans when you can't influence the future? And if you end up in a situation that's not to your liking, then you are a victim, and victims are both morally righteous and excused from having to do anything. Being a sick waif is being a victim, even more so if you're high on the progressive stack. I know this is political sperging but when do you see Chud munchies? Never. Progressive politics are undoubtedly part of this toxic mix that produces people like Vicky and why it pushes them down the path of shallow consumerism and living in the moment.
I've said this about Lowtax as well. Lowtax has a surprising amount in common with Vicky. He was only saved from being a complete street hobo by the SA income, all of which he squandered. Everything in his life was rented. And when his second divorce judgment came in, requiring him to adjust to a modest lifestyle with a normal job, he preferred to blow his own brains out rather than plan ahead. It was absolutely pathological for him to the extent that he'd rather die than actually do anything other than get high and have fun.
Lowtax and Vicky are cows insulated from the consequences of their lack of foresight by an external source of funds. When Lowtax's funds ran out, he trepanned himself with a 5-7. Other cows are insulated from that need by their ageing parents. Kiwis have often speculated about what will happen when Lou Gagliardi, Jake Alley, Cyrax and others lose their parents, and how on Earth such complete failures to launch can survive without them. I guarantee you that those Kiwis have given the matter more thought than the cows concerned. They don't think about it at all. They are children. Sometimes, like Dan Larson, Cobes or Cyrax, they are literally retarded, with the minds of children. Others, like Vicky, Lowtax, Jake Alley and Lou Gagliardi, have actively chosen to be children. Looking ahead and making long-term plans is scary and hard and Hasan said you don't have to do anything that's scary or hard and that's fascism. The state will look after you like mommy did, and whilst I find that idea terrifying, if you suffer from arrested development it's very comforting. Just do what feels good. It's other people's jobs to facilitate your epicureanism, and if they don't do that they're oppressing you and you need to speak to the manager.
