A federal agent shot and killed a Minneapolis motorist when she allegedly tried to run over law enforcement officers during an immigration crackdown in the city, authorities said Wednesday.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer shot the woman in her vehicle in a residential neighborhood in Minneapolis, Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.

Video posted online showed the vehicle crashed in a residential neighborhood. The shooting drew throngs of angry protesters to the scene in an area that is the latest target of the Trump administration's immigration crackdown.

Follow live coverage of the shooting from MPR News in Minneapolis.

There was a large presence of federal and local officers, yellow police tape and cars that had been in a crash in the residential neighborhood. Gregory Bovino, a senior U.S. Customs and Border Patrol official who has been the face of crackdowns in Los Angeles, Chicago and elsewhere, was among the group.

“We are aware of a shooting involving federal law enforcement near East 34th Street and Portland Avenue. Please avoid this area,” the city government said on X.

In a scene similar to the Los Angeles and Chicago crackdowns, bystanders didn't hold back in venting their anger, blowing whistles, taunting the federal agents.

“Shame! Shame! Shame!” and “ICE out of Minnesota!” they loudly chanted from behind the police tape, referring to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

After the shooting, Mayor Jacob Frey said immigration agents were “causing chaos in our city.”

“We are demanding ICE leave the city and state immediately. We stand rock solid with our immigrant and refugee communities," Frey said on social media.

The area where the shooting occurred is a modest neighborhood south of downtown Minneapolis, just a few blocks from some of the oldest immigrant markets in the area and a mile from where George Floyd was killed by police in 2020.

“We’ve been trying to live life as fully as possible in light of the fear and anxiety that we feel,” said the Rev. Hierald Osorto, pastor at St. Paul’s-San Pablo Lutheran Church, which has a predominantly Latino congregation in the area.

The Immigration Defense Network, a coalition of groups serving immigrants in Minnesota, held a training session Tuesday night for about 100 people who are willing to hit the streets to monitor the federal enforcement.

“I feel like I'm an ordinary person, and I have the ability do something so I need to do it,” Mary Moran told KMSP-TV.

The Department of Homeland Security said Tuesday that it had launched an extraordinary immigration enforcement operation, with 2,000 agents and officers expected in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area for a crackdown tied in part to allegations of fraud involving Somali residents.

I'm not a leftist, and I didn't care about ICE until they murdered a woman in cold blood. I was actually upset when Kirk was shot because it was a sign that political violence was being normalized again. I'll tell you again, if you support extrajudicial killing of people who have the bad wrongthink you don't like, don't cry when leftists retaliate. This entire situation could have been prevented if Jonathan didn't act like an impulsive nigger.

If a redneck slathered in confederate flag tattoos accelerated his MAGA-bumper-sticker-covered pickup truck at a cop and took a bullet for his stupidity, I'd laugh just the same as I'm laughing at the Good lady who was just made better by a cop's bullet.

The political motives are irrelevant.

Trying to run over a cop, for whatever retarded reason, is the only "wrongthink" that matters.

And shame on you for comparing that suicidally-retarded lesbian to Charlie Kirk. That's fucking insulting.

I don't know that soccer mom is an accurate description for a BPD multiple marriage woman turned unemployed lesbian poet in Minneapolis. Two of her kids were out of her life and she had sent the final one to a SJW incubator charter school. That was an interesting choice because as much of a "progressive" as she was, she didn't trust her own child to the Minneapolis Public Schools.
The fact she was a mother of two other kids and didn't have custody of either one should tell you how much of a trainwreck this crazy bitch was.

I must say, I 100% agree with what Asmongold said yesterday: an example has to be made with Minnesota. President Trump needs to invoke the Insurrection Act, federalize the Nasty Girls and activate the military, arrest Walz, the mayor of Minneapolis, and the Attorney General who have enabled/benefitted from the rampant fraud and defended the illegal aliens, and arrest every immigrant involved, denaturalize the ones who became citizens, and deport the lot. Anyone who attempts to obstruct ICE must likewise be arrested. If they're an illegal alien then they get deported immediately. If they're a legal immigrant then they need to be tried as a traitor, denaturalized, and then deported. A message has to be sent that this will not be tolerated, that no one, not governors, not mayors, not AGs, not citizens, not our illegal uninvited guests has the right to interfere with law enforcement as they conduct their lawful duties. And the next time ICE plans to do an op in a Blue state or city they'll be warned "Either cooperate so we can get this done or you'll go down the same way as Walz in Minnesota. You want that?"

You know, that's actually a great idea. With all the fraud that's been exposed there, this is the perfect place to set an example. Invoke the Insurrection Act and arrest Walz and as many party operatives as you can even vaguely connect to the Somali fraud schemes. Just do it all at once. Grab the NGOs that fund liberal rent-a-mobs at the same time. Make it all one big package. The public perception would be that anyone going out there to protest ICE is pro-fraud and probably being paid.

No, the timing isn't right for the hammer to come down on Walz and all the people talking tough at ICE. It's just talk right now and the only blood spilled is one old lesbian's. If some tranny there actually ventilated an agent or the local cops tried giving them a beat down, it crosses a line that I think would justify that dramatic a response to a lot of people, but right now it's too much of a stretch.
