A federal agent shot and killed a Minneapolis motorist when she allegedly tried to run over law enforcement officers during an immigration crackdown in the city, authorities said Wednesday.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer shot the woman in her vehicle in a residential neighborhood in Minneapolis, Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.

Video posted online showed the vehicle crashed in a residential neighborhood. The shooting drew throngs of angry protesters to the scene in an area that is the latest target of the Trump administration's immigration crackdown.

Follow live coverage of the shooting from MPR News in Minneapolis.

There was a large presence of federal and local officers, yellow police tape and cars that had been in a crash in the residential neighborhood. Gregory Bovino, a senior U.S. Customs and Border Patrol official who has been the face of crackdowns in Los Angeles, Chicago and elsewhere, was among the group.

“We are aware of a shooting involving federal law enforcement near East 34th Street and Portland Avenue. Please avoid this area,” the city government said on X.

In a scene similar to the Los Angeles and Chicago crackdowns, bystanders didn't hold back in venting their anger, blowing whistles, taunting the federal agents.

“Shame! Shame! Shame!” and “ICE out of Minnesota!” they loudly chanted from behind the police tape, referring to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

After the shooting, Mayor Jacob Frey said immigration agents were “causing chaos in our city.”

“We are demanding ICE leave the city and state immediately. We stand rock solid with our immigrant and refugee communities," Frey said on social media.

The area where the shooting occurred is a modest neighborhood south of downtown Minneapolis, just a few blocks from some of the oldest immigrant markets in the area and a mile from where George Floyd was killed by police in 2020.

“We’ve been trying to live life as fully as possible in light of the fear and anxiety that we feel,” said the Rev. Hierald Osorto, pastor at St. Paul’s-San Pablo Lutheran Church, which has a predominantly Latino congregation in the area.

The Immigration Defense Network, a coalition of groups serving immigrants in Minnesota, held a training session Tuesday night for about 100 people who are willing to hit the streets to monitor the federal enforcement.

“I feel like I'm an ordinary person, and I have the ability do something so I need to do it,” Mary Moran told KMSP-TV.

The Department of Homeland Security said Tuesday that it had launched an extraordinary immigration enforcement operation, with 2,000 agents and officers expected in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area for a crackdown tied in part to allegations of fraud involving Somali residents.

I'm pretty tuned in when it comes to happenings, and it took me a full work day to acknowledge this story. It's a case of crying wolf. In the last year, there has been so many 'ICE is literally SS nazi gestapo throwing innocent brown us citizens in concentration camps' stories, which are lies, hitting the socials that a ice officer shooting a AWFL seems benign in comparison. When I saw this story, it took hours for me to bother to look into it. I wonder how many others were/are just tuned out as well because of the clown world rhetoric against ICE.

As for the AWFL, genuinely sad she was killed. Not on a mourning level, but it is a sad and completely preventable situation. she was radicalized by fake news to think she was fighting literally Hitler, traveled to another state for said fight. her mentally ill wife from a third marriage, who was egging her on, witnessed and recorded her death and she leaves behind children whose lives sounded fucked up already. Poor fucking kids. They should be trading Pokémon cards and shit, not dealing with the fallout of 2 marriages, a suicided step father, and mentally ill parents who put being on the right side of history above their stability and well being. It's sad.

And a completely justified shooting. We are all here debating this from the comfort of our arm chairs with the opinions of multiple experts and multiple camera angles. the officer in front of the car did not have that luxury. by the time the car moved towards him, and it did. it clipped him. it would have been too late to make the call. either he or his colleagues could have been dead or seriously maimed. we have the benifit of hindsight. he did not. And given his imperfect subjective view. he made the right call.

But, let's say she did kill him. for the sake of argument, and drove away. Most of us come to the reasonable conclusion. She didn't mean to kill the officer. So, it would be involuntary manslaughter right? well, not exactly. In cases such as this, running over an officer is considered such an extreme form of negligence that it rises the charge to murder. Even though she lacks intent, this was definitely attempted murder.

Still, the blame isn't entirely on her. I believe a significant portion of this is on Minneapolis itself. She was already arrested once for this, if the charges were allowed to stick. She'd be safe in a jail cell or doing community service instead of in a coffin with children grieving her. If the local police were allowed to assist ICE, then the police would have likely been the ones to assist the ICE officer stuck in snow and maybe these mentally ill, retarded rioters wouldnt have shown up to try to entrap law enforcement on a false premise. if the local police would have helped control the rioters, maybe the officer who did the shooting wouldnt have ended up being hit and dragged by a car before and he'd be more calm. maybe there wouldnt be 4 cases of ICE officers hit by cars just this month.

And finally, if the news media wasn't lying constantly. maybe she and her retard wife would have never shown up to do this in the first place. The truth is, multiple systems were allowed to fail by the Minneapolis government, in order to fight the federal government, which culminated in her dying yesterday. her children will have to wrestle with that for the rest of their lives. Their mom was allowed to die because Minneapolis needed blood in their fight against the democratically elected president. This doesn't remove blame from her. But it will contribute to the trauma of the children.

It seems like the summer of love isn't happening here. something to consider, a lot of these rioters are from out of state. they probably aren't used to cold Minneapolis nights even though it's warm to the locals. People are probably fatigued from a decade of this rhetoric, and there is a president in charge that will do something. it'll be interesting to see if this has a chilling effect on rioters blocking ICE agents in the future.

Officers are generally trained to fire a cluster of shots in a very brief period of time. Usually this is at the core, that is, the center of mass of the target. By the time the decision to shoot occurs, that's going to happen. It's inevitable. They aren't going to shoot once, then wait and carefully observe the target for several seconds. They're going to shoot 3-4 times in rapid succession before stopping to determine whether the target is still a threat.

No matter what you did to cause the cop to shoot, the result is likely you take multiple bullets in vital organs.
Then any defense is going to hinge on whether or not Renee was a tangible threat to the agent. In my analysis it's really unclear if he is even touched by her vehicle when he starts shooting. He draws his gun the moment she starts moving forwards but doesn't shoot until it looks like he's out of the way, but the other agent trying to force her front driver side door open makes it impossible to tell if there was or wasn't an impact.

- From this angle of the incident, at least.
Stopping a rogue vehicle being driven by someone with unknown intentions and who has already aimed that vehicle at the cops IS "re-active," you absurd faggot.
If you pay attention to my analysis video, her tires are turned away from the agent, towards his left, before the first shot occurs. A prosecutor is going to eat that up like hotcakes.

So far, the great Minneapolis Hipster riots of 2026 seem to be a total dud. There seem to be more feds at the protest than protestors. CNN and MSNBC have their cameras firmly placed looking away from the crowd. Presumably because its so small.

They closed the schools today with the hope that "angry youth" would protest. But so far its the usual collection of old boomers and random white hipsters you would find at a no kings protest.

Nah fuck that, he's guilty as hell. Him taking the second and third shot while being clear from danger is already a grave violation of standard ROE. The first shot was a split second decision where he felt imminent danger without seeing the wheels turning away from him - If that was only one shot he took (even if she still died), he could have proven that his life was in danger in court. But instead, he took the second and third shot despite him and his buddy being clear from imminent danger. Absolute fuckup. He better take a plea deal for murdering that poor woman cause there's no way out with this damning footage.

Any of you who think she deserves it should take the dick out of their mouths and learn the ABCs of handling handguns in stressful situations. It doesn't help that the first ICE agent just jumped out of his car and instantly tried to force her out, which prompted her to panic and flee. Do they teach de-escalation tactics over there or do they just let every cowboy with a itchy trigger finger join?
Nigga you have never touched a gun in your life, I can smell it off you. You reek.

It's not a dud, it's about what you could expect because ICE killed a white (albeit a lesbian) woman, not a nigger.

Idk if anyone has said it yet but this event is as good a reason as any to remind everyone, peek in the videos of people dying thread every once in a while. Specifically watch videos that take place in America. You will learn that cops WILL kill you if you do this. There’s even body cam videos on YouTube that’ll teach you the same lesson. If this woman had seen even one of these videos, she would know not to move her car an inch when there are officers surrounding it. I mean it seems like common sense not to fuck around when the other guy has a gun, but a lot of people need to see it firsthand.

Where exactly are people getting this "She was waving them by" claim from? I'm seeing it get parroted around as though it means something.
Look at my analysis video post. In the first few seconds of that recording, you can see her waving through a civilian gray SUV. She makes the same waving motion in the direction of the ICE truck as it approaches. Whether that was intended for them or not is unclear. You can also hear a woman shouting "Go around!" as they approach. Again, from the angle I analyzed, you really can't tell who it's meant for.

You would assume she would just get out of the fucking way if she had been blocking traffic to block them, but who knows.

From what can be seen from all the video released so far, she was deliberately blocking ICE vehicles and waving civilians through. She might have been waving the ICE vehicle around; more likely she was waving someone behind or parallel to it. There's still a lot about this incident that's unclear, and just what Renee Good was doing in the minutes and hours leading up to the shooting is a big part of it.

Of course, if the cops have ordered you to get out of the fucking car, "waving them through" isn't something that actually works.

I know a lot of people on this website will try their best to justify it but deep down we know that's not a justified shooting. The officer should be suspended with pay and an official investigation must take place. Interfering with ICE is stupid and dangerous but that doesn't justify that shooting.

Literally the only reason anyone gives a shit about this bitch is that she had a vagina.

It's internet simpery, if this has been an ugly Somali man the same people crying and clutching their pearls would be laughing and making dead nigger memes.

You don't know this random woman's politics
You're right, the twice-divorced troon-supporting lesbian with a dead ex husband and a handful of estranged children protesting ICE in the year 2026 could have only been a Whig.

We've allowed a protest industry to flourish where not only do you face no consequences, you can sue the city for "excessive force" and the city will settle, giving hundreds of thousands of dollars to the activist org that sent you there in the first place.

if this was some generic 'interfering with law enforcement' situation i might have some sympathy for her, depending on the circumstances.
but this bitch was doing it to protect illegals from deportation. she's a traitor to her own people, traitor to her nation, traitor to her race. zero sympathy for traitors.
