A federal agent shot and killed a Minneapolis motorist when she allegedly tried to run over law enforcement officers during an immigration crackdown in the city, authorities said Wednesday.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer shot the woman in her vehicle in a residential neighborhood in Minneapolis, Department of Homeland Security spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement.

Video posted online showed the vehicle crashed in a residential neighborhood. The shooting drew throngs of angry protesters to the scene in an area that is the latest target of the Trump administration's immigration crackdown.

Follow live coverage of the shooting from MPR News in Minneapolis.

There was a large presence of federal and local officers, yellow police tape and cars that had been in a crash in the residential neighborhood. Gregory Bovino, a senior U.S. Customs and Border Patrol official who has been the face of crackdowns in Los Angeles, Chicago and elsewhere, was among the group.

“We are aware of a shooting involving federal law enforcement near East 34th Street and Portland Avenue. Please avoid this area,” the city government said on X.

In a scene similar to the Los Angeles and Chicago crackdowns, bystanders didn't hold back in venting their anger, blowing whistles, taunting the federal agents.

“Shame! Shame! Shame!” and “ICE out of Minnesota!” they loudly chanted from behind the police tape, referring to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

After the shooting, Mayor Jacob Frey said immigration agents were “causing chaos in our city.”

“We are demanding ICE leave the city and state immediately. We stand rock solid with our immigrant and refugee communities," Frey said on social media.

The area where the shooting occurred is a modest neighborhood south of downtown Minneapolis, just a few blocks from some of the oldest immigrant markets in the area and a mile from where George Floyd was killed by police in 2020.

“We’ve been trying to live life as fully as possible in light of the fear and anxiety that we feel,” said the Rev. Hierald Osorto, pastor at St. Paul’s-San Pablo Lutheran Church, which has a predominantly Latino congregation in the area.

The Immigration Defense Network, a coalition of groups serving immigrants in Minnesota, held a training session Tuesday night for about 100 people who are willing to hit the streets to monitor the federal enforcement.

“I feel like I'm an ordinary person, and I have the ability do something so I need to do it,” Mary Moran told KMSP-TV.

The Department of Homeland Security said Tuesday that it had launched an extraordinary immigration enforcement operation, with 2,000 agents and officers expected in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area for a crackdown tied in part to allegations of fraud involving Somali residents.

The most hilarious part out of all this malding about ‘A&N just sucks Trump’s dick’ is

I didn’t even vote for him. Go look at USPG1 in 2024. I was arguing and voted for Kamala. Because ultimately I still believed in goodwill towards my fellow man and general decency. But this last year has been changing me. Not like I love Trump because I still criticize him enough to get called a doomer and a shill and a faggot Redditor, but ugh I just can’t anymore with the purity tests and hypocrisy and selective memory.

I think Trump is a giant criminal faggot, but the team behind him is doing some solid policy right now and the Democrats with their Loony Troony "Trans kids exist" policy can go fuck themselves.

The fact that people are incapable to understand that not everyone who supports the deportation of illegals automatically likes Trump tells you a lot of about the IQ on the other side.

[EDIT] Fixed freudian slip.

Trolling aside, this is a very nuanced situation. The ICE agent naturally was probably pissing himself the moment he processed she was going to try to escape and that she backed up and pointed her vehicle almost directly at him. The first shot, while excessive, could easily be argued in a criminal court as self defense.
Agreed, there is clearly a degree of panic on both sides. The driver trying to flee out of panic, and the officer haphazardly discharging his weapon. Media coverage & political intentions aside - should this have been a civilian incident, it would be very interesting to see the legal outcome. Not to mention what will come out once they get hold of the dashcam footage.

Trump straight up lying and exaggerating the injuries the ICE agent suffered to create even more partisan conflict should make some of the more devout trolls/MAGAts in here question themselves.

Should.

All these pretending to be retarded baitposts read like AI slop slightly edited by adding a word in here and there

It's true, Sockiest here was one of the worst posters. He's somewhat passable now but has to be whipped back into shape when he starts posting like a mindless leftist again.

He was clear of the vehicle and at that point had no reason to continue shooting. I could see a jury easily being convinced he was actively trying to kill her at that point.

At what point should he decide that she's merely fleeing arrest and not about to turn around and plough her car into the agents at a better angle?

The next two shots, nah. He was clear of the vehicle and at that point had no reason to continue shooting. I could see a jury easily being convinced he was actively trying to kill her at that point.
Three shots is standard training, its even got a catchy name "Mozambique Drill".

Nigger, she KNEW they were ICE, that was the sole reason she was there, to criminally fuck with and obstruct them.
Yeah anyone arguing she wasn't taunting and baiting them is retarded. She was literally blocking an entire lane of traffic and selectively letting people through.
At what point should he decide that she's merely fleeing arrest and not about to turn around and plough her car into the agents at a better angle?
Cops are trained to be REactive and not PROactive for a very good reason, if you can imagine.

I didn't know this existed personally, that would actually be a pretty good defense, arguing his training kicked in and his fight or flight response made him act automatically. Fair enough.

Too late for that. We are past ‘holding our own accountable’ because it has been weaponized to weaken ‘ourselves’ too much so everyone is refusing to do it now. All that decorum stuff is pretty much out the window and it’s all Cold War: Political Edition.

There are bodycam vids of this exact kind of situation and a lot of them end with the car getting shot at. No one whines then.

Exactly. You have a driver who's keyed up / unhinged / desperate enough to take off from a lawful stop or arrest and they're at the wheel of something that's now a mobile murder machine. You do not fuck around; you stop that vehicle as hard and fast as possible.

It's because that's actually how the other side operates. They expect 100% purity in your beliefs.

You WILL support trans rights.
You WILL support the 37th booster shot.
You WILL support the destruction of the White menace.
You WILL support Somalis stealing millions (and also that literally never happened).

They can't understand that other people may operate differently and agree with people who don't share complete ideological conformity.

Lol

Every single thread about any kind of shooting, officer-involved or not, has this same line of "debate" come up and every single time it's [correctly] dismissed with: if you are using deadly force to stop a perceived threat, you keep shooting until said threat is no longer a threat. This shit came up when that retarded negro Jayland Walker introduced himself to an impromptu firing squad in Akron, Ohio. He was running from the police in a parking lot when he decided to abruptly stop, turn and reach into his waistband while being chased on foot by about ten cops. As such he was shot like 80 times and the same bullshit about "WHY SO MANY? IT'S EXCESSIVE FORCE!!!" was bandied about.

Similar is true of "warning shots" or "shooting the tires out", this isn't fucking Grand Theft Auto, people who are motivated to kill a police officer are unlikely to stop because you shot at their feet and deflating a vehicle's tires does not disable it immediately. Hell, go watch some police chases - they'll fucking spike strip the fuck out of a car, get all four tires and the motherfucker will still be driving on rims ten minutes later.

Officers are generally trained to fire a cluster of shots in a very brief period of time. Usually this is at the core, that is, the center of mass of the target. By the time the decision to shoot occurs, that's going to happen. It's inevitable. They aren't going to shoot once, then wait and carefully observe the target for several seconds. They're going to shoot 3-4 times in rapid succession before stopping to determine whether the target is still a threat.

No matter what you did to cause the cop to shoot, the result is likely you take multiple bullets in vital organs.

Every thread like this also has the even more turbo retard shit of "he should have shot the gun out of his hand" or "he should have just shot him in the leg."

The fact that they are even in the same stratosphere is still mindboggling. I do apologise, I mixed up the Army and the Marines boot camps. According to quick googling, Marines have 13 weeks. But in most places around the world, LE usually requires something like 8-24 months of training, whereas in the US the average time is around or slightly more than 3 months.

Look, I'm not trying to attack the individual ICE-officer here. This is more of a general commentary about the lack of training in American LE, which is to an outsider, kinda astonishing. And helps to explain, why so many people are killed by LE in America, when a lot of times a less lethal option would be available.
I pity the rest of the world for not having the divinely gifted natural aptitude for guns that all (TRVE) Americans do.

I got tired of people trolling and twisting the events of the recording itt so I made an analysis.

I tried to be as objective and non-partisan as possible.

Nah fuck that, he's guilty as hell. Him taking the second and third shot while being clear from danger is already a grave violation of standard ROE. The first shot was a split second decision where he felt imminent danger without seeing the wheels turning away from him - If that was only one shot he took (even if she still died), he could have proven that his life was in danger in court. But instead, he took the second and third shot despite him and his buddy being clear from imminent danger. Absolute fuckup. He better take a plea deal for murdering that poor woman cause there's no way out with this damning footage.

Any of you who think she deserves it should take the dick out of their mouths and learn the ABCs of handling handguns in stressful situations. It doesn't help that the first ICE agent just jumped out of his car and instantly tried to force her out, which prompted her to panic and flee. Do they teach de-escalation tactics over there or do they just let every cowboy with a itchy trigger finger join?
