WASHINGTON, Jan 3 (Reuters) - The U.S. has struck Venezuela and captured its President Nicolas Maduro, who has been taken out of the country, President Donald Trump said on Saturday.

The U.S. has not made such a direct intervention in Latin America since the invasion of Panama in 1989 to depose military leader Manuel Noriega.

"The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country," Trump said in a Truth Social post.

There was no immediate confirmation from the Venezuelan government.

The U.S. has accused Maduro of running a "narco-state" and rigging an election. The Venezuelan leader, who succeeded Hugo Chavez to take power in 2013, has said Washington wants to take control of its oil reserves, the largest in the world.

I hope in a few years when new cartles immediately replace the old ones, the Venezuelan people immediately vote for socialism again, absolutely nothing is changed, and all we get Iraq and Afghanistan: Salsa Picanta Flavor, all the people cheering this sit down, take a minute, and realize: you are truely a stupid motherfucker.

Uhhh, OK. I guess we'll see if the average Venezuelan is cool with who you've chosen to be their new leader. Not to mention all of Maduro's gangster allies in-country and the military.
They are literally celebrating in the streets and tearing down Maduro's image. Maybe check twitter before you pearl clutch over how the venzuelans feel.

If you can't let go of your TDS then the play here is to huff a fat fart and go "mmmm the people are happy now but what will happen on 6 months?"

The only thing that gives me a slight bit of optimism is that Venezuela at one time in its history did have a normal functional government, which means they are capable of it. Unlike places like Afghanistan or Libya, which were always shit holes and you can't just magically create a non-retarded population to run the country.
Its neighbors are more akin to a poor European country and with a new government offering stability i suspect things to get better. They might lose the oil industry to the US for the next few decades but probably get investment to do petrochemicals and etc... expect to see more dirty industry move from the gulf to there as the US goes for greening the gulf and making it a new tourism spot.

Honestly Venezuelas economy is destoyed by incompetence.

Venezuela is not having a normal society for the time being. About two generations have grown under the regime of the bolivarians and even the anti maduro ones are still socialist at core. I keep saying many of them think not that socialism fails, but rather that maduro is making socialism working badly, even when they don't call it socialism. Many who came here tried the social health care rather than the private one despite the price is not high, bc they still think the government is better.

And I fear no gov following will make a change for this. Even Milei isn't doing much to change people's views about leftism.
Real socialism has never been tried, chud :smug:

Amazing watching Trump supporters turn into Bush-era neocons at the drop of a hat...
If there is one thing I have learned, it's that the average person has zero principles or morals to speak of, but rather will just say and support whatever they perceive as the opinion of their chosen tribe. Trump and his gang said foreign intervention and war is le heckin based, so now the same guys who voted for no war are rock hard at the thought of it. This is yet another good reminder that suffrage should always be heavily limited.

They have had the same response with the deficit, deportations, election fraud, crime, and more. No shits are given, they just want to seal clap at orange man being BASED on truth social or whatever. At least if this had been the Mexican president and cartels, you could argue it was for America, but really this was just so that rich Jews can make more money because they are pissy the commie took their oil fields. Mexico is obviously off limit because they elected a kike, which overrules the fact that she openly works for the narco-terrorists that this administration is pretending it wants to stop. This is despite the fact that the Mexican president said that she is supporting the invasion of America specifically to claim American territory, which is an open declaration of war, but it's ok because she's part of the Tribe...

The money sent to prop up Presidente Orudam is going to make Somali Daycare Fraud look like an unpaid parking ticket.
I can guarantee it, and then everyone will say it's actually fine that we send infinity free money to foreigner browns, since Trump said it was ok! Just like they were all fine with the 20 billion to Argentina that completely negated every dime of DOGE spending cuts and then some. Or the 1.5 billion to Kenyan healthcare, that was stated to be an "America First" policy. The "right wing" in America is a bad joke.

There's no way that wasn't intentional. That's fucking amazing. Trump is the greatest President ever.
Even if you disagree that he is a good President. You can't deny that it goes to show that you can do things. You can enact change if you have the balls and the will to.

For decades we've been there being told that things take time and everything has to go through Congress, get voted, that some things have more priority and he just goes and does it.

Every Euro should be demanding the same from their own leaders. Every citizen should demand the same level of action from their leaders.

Peru also has had like 4 or 5 jewish presidents in the last few decades, with a population of like 1500 jews.
Erm, no?

Sagasti, atheist

Dina, catholic
Current one, catholic

It's weird how Trump is now doing what he was elected not to do: Foreign intervention and state building. And his reason to do so, that Venezuela is a narco state, is just a blatant lie.

But I have zero sympathy for Maduro the incompetent commie crackpot dictator. The Venezuelan commies has managed to turn the worlds most oil rich nation into an impoverished failed nation. Its almost impressive. Any monkey in zoo could do a better job, so maybe some good will come of this.

But I still wish that Trump would focus more on deporting Somalis and Haitians.

Fuck you, you absolute fucking retarded nigger. You know nothing. Maduro has held an iron grip on drug trafficking across not just Venezuela but a large portion of the South American pipeline. He's a Puppet of Mao Zedong Jr. He helped give China an in to force socialism down the throats of South American countries and helped the Belt and Road Initiatives. When Trump came into power, he had every chance to play nice with him and he spit in his face every fucking time. Make no mistake, we were at Cold War with Venezuela. Maybe even hot war, regardless of whether or not it was declared.

You want to avoid large full scale war though? This is how you do it. Trump wouldn't have done this either unless he had a plan to stabilize the region. This is a glorious day for the entire continent of South America and God bless America for having the balls to do what's needed.

"I would literally rather have mass human suffering than be forced to admit someone I don't like did something ok once"
"Someone do something!"

"No, not like that! In a way that exclusively validates all my personal beliefs while making all my enemies and rivals look incompetent and weak!"

Yeah, he shows you can do things, just not in America. He can move mountains in Iran, or Venezuela, but deporting one shitskin gangbanger illegal, Kilmar Abrego, was just too hard for him to pull off. Trump and America can do things, it just actively chooses not to do anything productive for the United States. Hence why we are fucking around on the other side of the planet, getting involved in foreign wars and deposing foreign heads of state, both of which Trump promised wouldn't be done under his watch. If we are going to get into conflicts, then why the fuck wasn't this done to the Mexican president? She openly works with cartels, and stated that she is supporting mass invasions specifically to claim U.S. territory. Queen narco-terrorist invader is right next door and nothing whatsoever is being done about it. All this does is make all of the inaction from Trump and the rest of the federal government even more profound and impossible to ignore, because it makes one wonder why this big balls strategy isn't being used against targets that actually make sense.

He is a terrible example for Europe to follow, unless they want more "pretend to solve things while you fuck around all over the world" strategy this admin is perfecting.

If you say so because of the "intervention", they you know little of politics and how Venezuela Is shaping the southern continent using Cuban influence and Chinese money. There is high criminality in S. Am. caused by maduros's agents being sent with the purpose of causing havoc among non allies countries, plus all the Venezuelans looking for jobs, housing, and using our public system and overcrowding them, which is causing too immigration to US and Europe. Venezuelan ain't some innocent victim in this situation.
