I love how all of iDubbbz' hopes and dreams for this year all revolve around the pain and suffering of others. Seems like it's going to be another empathetic and stoic year at the Jomha household.
Sorry for the big rant, it's my first post in a while, I probably could have organized it better but I just wanted to really let out some of my thoughts about him, because this statement by Mr. Dirty Mattress really encapsulates why it seems that God himself is against Mr. Johma. I apologize if some of this comes off as just rerepeating what others in the thread have said prior, but I do appreciate all of you here.
It almost feels like a sign of powerless for him to want to wish ill on others, many people don't have these wishes and find them to be repulsive. Unfortunately I think the muddy start of And I's controversies have seriously warped his view of the total situation. Many others in the thread have stated the pretty obvious fact that Ian has always held some of these negative traits, notably violence, although given how he was viewed at the time it was easy to ignore, like his focus on boxing his enemies that challenged him. I don't think it was a good environment for development as he rose to YouTube fame, as he essentially only had validation during the time, and wasn't pressured to be a better person in the legit way not like his "Empathy" B.S. Like Leafy he was far from invincible but he hadn't been tested yet, and the Only Fans situation was the test, and he failed terribly. While he may have threw away the image to some of his heavy anti Only Fans fans that he was the right wing commentary community savior, he more importantly threw away the facade that he was uncaring. No one thought he was invincible, no one is obviously, but he put up a good image of pretending to be and people liked that I think, he was way more stoic seeming then compared to now. He always had good situational advantages in the past, and he played his part in maintaining them. For example to me boxing Jinx was funny then, but revealing now, it seems less like it was a joke and more like an insecurity given he then tried RiceGum, then a bunch of randoms, then his old friend H3. It does speak to his skill that he had in the past that none of these came off as overly malicious before he really fell apart, but I think when it comes to dealing with threats from within hes shown to be entirely helpless, seen both in how Anisa and his audience treat him and his horrible defenses.
Following the big blowup and reveal, he played into a little on twitter which was whatever it could be taken anyway, it's expected since he's never cowered from confrontation thus far. His response on YouTube allowed for people to see his inner insecurities spilled out without any of the situational advantage he had before. A rare situation where he was the one perceived to be at fault, and I believe they had to be insecurities because I think he under and overestimated the caliber of fans he had. I personally know lots of people that at the time weren't super supportive of Only Fans stuff and became aware of the iDubbbz drama at the time, and they sort of turned the other cheek silently, I mean I was one of those people and I had friends who were those people lefties too and content cop era, for a lot of people iDubbbz was just that good of a creator that it didn't matter they could just ignore it, some people couldn't, and for most secure people in iDubbbz shoes that would be okay, they wouldn't feel the need to respond to a section of their fans. He did however, in a very disadvantageous way too, it was so far from the nail that sealed the coffin in terms of his whole career at the time (Although as much as I do think he screwed himself, it's one of those situations, where he could still save himself if he just started changing his behavior immediately, I do think there is basically no likelihood of this happening as I said.) but it was the first major red flag. If had only turned the other cheek, for as much as he scorns Christianity he really could have learned from it here and forgave his hateful fans and moved on, I honestly think a decent bit would have came around for him. To relate it back to what I originally said, he displayed a lot of hate towards a lot of his fans, while it's his choice to be political or offensive, hateful people as he describes them aren't permanent hateful people, some are, but if he was really an empath he would've moved away from the content he didn't like and ignored the haters he did have.
It was like an infected wound for his career still, it carried on way worse than the original injury did, like picking at a scab. It's painfully obvious that they event stuck with him worse than his haters, and attacking your own online viewers is like trying to exterminate a house infested with cockroaches like a metal bat. He's either too embarrassed to admit or too stupid to realize that mentioning it then, and every time since has been a total mistake. He really should have just told Anisa not to make the Only Fans since he had chud fans, and it'd just be easier to migrate to being non offensive without kicking a hornets nest right as you try to do it. I think he really took the hate hard, given how much he responded to it. He had no hesitation in labelling it as his fans fault, alienating them further. I do think his moderate fans, were drawn more and more away as he tried to scorn his more hateful ones, I think the moderate fans would have appreciated it even. Again like so many said, he could have been like Frank and had two cakes, but he was so obsessed destroying the first one he forgot to make the second.
Without really condoning any of his actions, I think the two environments he had really contributed to his failure to develop, going from winning at everything to losing at everything. It's clear he's always had an ego, but that's not inherently a bad thing. Too obsessed with others being the cause of his problems than the mechanical worldly issues, him having haters isn't why he's failing, it's because he's just boring, Asmongold probably has more direct haters, but he plays his role well and has lot's of viewers as a result. (I don't follow him too much but any content creator who gets a lot of viewers and attention and recieves clear monetary gain I consider successful, although I wouldn't call it high art or all that intelligent) People aren't that stupid, nobody would hate iDubbbz for hiding some of his personal opinions, Penguinz0 is a chronic fence sitter and he probably holds some more direct opinions off camera but people enjoy him for what he is on camera. Maybe somewhere along the way Ian Washburn and iDubbbz got mixed up, people can maybe agree with me that we never thought iDubbbz acted like that off the camera, we all assumed he was normal since we all had a more fun side we'd share with friends rather than strangers. His story of the fan he met that said the N word and it deeply embarrassed him is highly understandable. I think some experiences like that had him convinced people thought he was iDubbbz all the time and not Ian. So he tried to distinguish himself with the response prove he's not just a charicature in front of camera, but he simultaneously proved part of the charicature was always within him, such as how he treats violence now, words against him are creepy and weird, but fists against his enemies, or any mechanism of death is perfectly fine, just like how he'd batter Jinx, Ricegum, H3, but he still can't even earn the courage designation as he totally fears Sam Hyde and utterly submits to Hasan. It's so unfortunate because none of this needed to happen, I am far from directly sympathetic to him, this is more like one of those Greek tragedies or something like Shakespeare where everything could have turned out better, in fact it should have, but it didn't, it's his tragedy and we aren't witnessing his attackers mistakes, we are witnessing his mistakes.
Like one of those biblical stories where the main character is made to suffer, and the message is that you should still endure and do the right thing and it may pay off. Ian lashed out in times of stress and he's paying the horrible consequences, and he did deserve it. His story is a message of why it's important to do the right thing because you never know how it may turn out. This is even before he betrayed one of his good friends, and isolated himself. He is now more iDubbbz than Ian, but it's getting scary, and he's letting it happen.
I have a lot more I could say, but I've ranted enough, and frankly with all he's done theres simply too much to talk about, I really hope he gets LOTY simply because his story is such an epic warning. It feels like it could be easily implemented into a childrens story book with the moral lessons learned along the way. As an old fan, if he returned to me in apology, I would accept him, I wouldn't want him to pay up or suffer, I merely want him to heal. We all know he doesn't want to heal and it's sad, but there are much sadder stories. I hope he gets those heated socks sometime, he deserves some comfort in this cruel world.
