A Weis Market at 12:58AM, when the store wasn't even open. The asshole killed his overnight manager, apparently in one of his videos he talked about how he didn't like him. As well as 2 other poor employees who had to work with this freak and have their lives lose endlessly for his imaginary ghost girlfriend.

That to me is what's so horrifying about it. They walked in that night not knowing it was their last night on Earth, all because of a shithead who can't separate fantasy from reality. Is there any indication someone in his circle knew about his plan before he carried it out? If so, that person needs to be nailed to the wall, legally. I think that pretty well sums some of it up. I would argue though that even if the internet had been as advanced and widespread back in the 80s and early 90s I think it might not have resulted in exactly the same situation. I also think it has to do with a change in the way children's entertainment is presented coupled with the ability to obsess on it over the internet with people who enable that obsession.

Yeah, I no longer give any credence to the "I was just being edgy/shitposting" defense. In this age where violent incidents are a daily occurrence, I assume someone threatening harm is serious, and act accordingly.

I'm old and cannot understand this whole subculture of teens/20-somethings fetishizing and basing their whole lives/ identities obsessing over a shitty cartoon show (or video game) from their childhood. Teenagers in the 1980's didn't jerk off to H.R. Puffenstuff and Scooby-Doo or if they did they knew that shit was fucked-up and didn't share it with others and get any social reinforcement.
