I'm a white guy with a house, a wife, no debts (besides the mortgage), a job, disposable income for hobbies, and time for hobbies. There are plenty of other people in this thread who are the same, many of whom also have children on top of it. You spend way too much time in doomer circles. I'm not saying that affirmative action and DEI aren't real or that they aren't retarded, but I'm a news junkie. Every day I see stories about some brown people getting something they don't deserve because of AA or DEI and then, a year or so later, they lose it because of incompetence or straight corruption.
Ibram X. Kendi got his own entire school at Boston University, the Center for Antiracist Research. After a vaunted opening, it produced zero original research, wasted untold amounts of money, and was closed 2 years after opening. Stacey Abrams was plastered all over the place and was even made "President of the Federation" in nu-Trek, but her political career is nil. Letitia James was a media darling for suing Trump and then got indicted on federal bank fraud charges.
This is all to say that these people are retarded. Sometimes the universe will solve a problem for you. You can doom and piss and moan, or you can take some initiative to improve your life in material ways and take a moment to observe the master plans of globohomos fail because the globohomos are retards.
This is exactly right. It sucks for people born in the "donut hole" generation with big discrimination, but if anyone thinks this house of cards can really continue indefinitely, they must actually believe in their heart of hearts that the diversity hires were actually just as good as the people they replaced.
If you think they're less competent, then it works out in the long term that companies who want competence will eventually abandon their DEI policies. Largescale, organized ingroup stuff like the jeets do can last longer, but eventually that collapses, too.
People who actually have confidence in the relative competence of white guys vs. others know that this is a temporary state of affairs. You do have to keep pushing for competence, of course, you can't just abandon the quest and give up because that's the only thing that lets incompetence win. This was why the troon issue was also always going to be limited-time. The troons can only pretend "we'll be perfectly normal humans if we're given everything we want" for so long before the truth issues in their brand cause too much cognitive dissonance for normies to tolerate. DEI was a fad that didn't work. People buy into fad diets and fad ideologies because they think those diets or ideologies are more effective in some way than what came before. When the scale doesn't move, they get embarrassed and throw away their South Beach Diet book and move on with life, pretending it never happened. We're going to see the same thing here.
I think the reason people are so doomy is actually because of the screenwriter problem. No one wants to admit how much of their worldview comes from actors on the teevee, but it really has an outsize impact on how people conceptualize the world. Apparently for about the last 5 years, almost all new screenwriters have been female, minority, or both, hired for demographics over talent. That has dire results both in terms of quality programming and in terms of making it seem like "all of culture is against us, we're doomed."
Those articles about the bias against white men in industries like screenwriting are leading indicators that we're about to see lawsuits over these hiring practices, and the Justice Department has made it clear that they will be aggressively pursuing cases brought to their attention of discrimination against white men. Within a few years, studios will be hiring white guys frantically in order to avoid lawsuits, and (mysteriously!) it'll also bring viewership and revenue up when they hire the competent people for the jobs. The "golden age of TV" had writers' rooms that made reddit
cry.
The arc of history is long, but it bends toward justice. It bends toward truth.
