Even the weebiest of weebs will never be as Japanese as a native heritage Jap, no matter how they study, no matter how much history they read, they won't have experienced growing up there, visiting their ancestors graves, knowing their family has been carrying out the same traditions for generations, the subtle cultural and social contexts only people who've been there with native parents inherently pick up and internalize.

The entire concept is retarded. What is assimilating if not trying to be like the most American Americans that exist? aka the ones who built the country and have been there for generations. What is it if not imitating those who have already been there for hundreds of years? Assimilating is playacting as a heritage American knowing you'll never fully become the role but knowing it's the most respectful thing you can do to try and learn all the tiny social, political, verbal, gestural, historical, cultural, inherent things that heritage Americans naturally do. And it comes with knowing you'll always be different, but it will help your future generations become more enmeshed and rooted and invested with each new kid, grandkid, etc that become more and more American with each offspring into the chain.
If there's no heritage Americans, then what is assimilating aiming to do? What are you integrating with? What is America?
It just says that growing up in an environment and entering an environment as an outsider leaves you entirely the same, with the same motivations, same skin in the game when it comes to the outcome of the country which is patently fucking absurd.
