Xylitol better known as birch sugar is extremely toxic to most animals and causes kidney failure no different than that of a neurotoxin. You can find it in many places including toothpastes, mouth rinses, and even some foods due to its non-cariogenic properties and is about 70% the sweetness of traditional sugars which is great for your teethe, not so great for your dog.

Below I've outlined a few brands to look out for:
Go Nuts, Co,
Krush Nutrition,
Nuts ‘N More,
P28 Foods,
and No Cow.

if you have any of these brands do NOT give them to your beloved furry friends.
Jif,
Skippy,
Peter Pan,
Teddie,
And Trader Joe's

likely do not contain birch sugar but you should still read the back of your peanut butter jars, companies do not need to disclose this information to you directly on the label despite how much pain that would save us, but they must label it as an ingredients list under its appropriate name "Xylitol", and cannot label it as "added sugars" or anything else.

For how much stuff I talk about in threads that actually impacts most peoples lives directly I get surprisingly few followers. So if you guys like this kind of stuff, or at least care about things that effect your daily livelihood give me a follow because I will definitely create more threads like this in the future.

Skippy? Jif? Do I look like a millionaire? My dogs are gonna eat the $2 jars of Hap-P Nut Butter I buy at the gas station whether it's poisonous or not.

if your peanut butter contains anything other than peanuts then you are certified niggercattle
How expensive is in the USA the 100% peanut based butter?
Where I live I pay around 3 USD for around 11 oz which I find it cheap.

i dont use peanut butter very often so a 36oz jar lasts me for quite some time, i cant remember quite how much i pay for mine but i buy adam's peanut butter (crunchy my beloved) and online it says around 9 bucks for the 36oz which sounds about right. i really dont use much peanut butter so the price is justified for me due to it lasting a month or so but i bet you can find it for cheaper if you shop around.

I searched it up and apparently xylitol can also be toxic to cats but not to the same degree as dogs, but it's still probably not a good idea to feed weirdly named chemicals to any animals.

Homemade peanut butter FTW.

One of my cats loves yogurt and goes crazy when he sees the container. I almost exclusively eat plain yogurt. But I occasionally get seasonal flavors or sugar free/low sugar if it's on sale and I like the flavor. I'm constantly checking labels. There's so much crap added to things now you never know.
