I'm sure it's already been said, but there should have been a "degenerates/porn-brained/coomers/gooners" option. Troons is the closest thing but there are lots of non troon degenerates.

I think this speaks for itself. Literally every mod/game hack community.

Women playing vidya now mostly being troon infested
As a guy that used to play the Sims (I liked to hoard gold bars and perfectly cut gems in a vault in 3 while my sim did nothing but PAINT), I pirated 4 and on booting up some of the first clothing options were the black supremacist fist and gay flag shit for shirts.

I immediately uninstalled.

The Sims 4 is unplayable without mods, mainly because the clothing options sucks ass, not only you have all the deshumanizing shit you cited, but for me, much of time the standard game + DLC female clothing is abismal, mainly because they put ever single shit that was "female fashion" at the time (2014 - 2019) and we all know that female clothing back then was one of the worst, so, only with mods I can give things like low waist bottoms to them (or hope so, because even the modders/player base has the same shit taste from back them)

Reddit ruined everything.

Nothing can exist outside of reddit. All the information and discussion for hobbies has moved to reddit. No more dedicated forums where autists talk about their passions and share their knowledge. Now it's just the subreddit where midwits spout the same entry-level bullshit over and over again.
This actually make me sad and so frustrated, especially when morons ask the same questions that are easily answered online and act like Reddit is The Internet. Please tell me, Reddit!

And then some redditor or bot answers with the same old outdated crap for updots. If you go to a tech reddit many of them act if everyone has unlimited money and time. Just buy a server and 50 24TB HDDs, stupid! Put it in your basement (everyone has one!), problem solved!

I think the culture of information destruction online has ruined really every hobby. Any time you try to contribute to any community, you automatically have people trying to censor you and delete anything you say even if you're helping the community. Wikipedia and Reddit are really bad at this. Even this site has members who want to do that but can't. Its one thing when the objective is to remove spam or people abusing a community but its a real problem when the objective is just to silence opinions or facts. Intellectuals(both smart and dumb) hate disagreement but we've empowered such people to silence others. Unless an edit on Wikipedia was actually illegal, then nothing should be permanently deleted.

The other reason why this pisses me off is that people can spend hours of their time doing research and typing things out only for some asshole to erase all their work for the most petty of reasons.

Reddit ruined everything.

Reddit is a writhing mass of everything corrosive. It's full of normies, troons, consoomers, wannabe influencers and tourists.

Looking for some mecha anime to watch? Bro, watch this obscure anime called Evangelion, bro. It's so deep. Have any of y'all seen Eva (that's how the cool kids say it)

Started playing a new game and want advanced info? Here's the subreddit where people are sharing fanart and pictures of things tangentially related to the game. You spot something that looks like actual discussion, but it's some retard asking how to beat the first boss.

Every community now exists on reddit and adopts the site's voice. Since it's so popular it's also the first (and only) stop for normies and tourists.

I am big MATI that whenever I look up specific advanced tech for Street Fighter or Tekken I get redirected to subreddits where there are these mouthbreathing niggercattle asking how to perform a hadouken. Any specific forum for the games have also been infiltrated by redditors.

TL;DR: Troons? Normies? Consoomers? Reddit is behind all of it. Gatekeep your hobbies.
have you seen Dragon's Heaven or Knights of Sidonia? those is pretty good.

I would blame people like bryan lee o malley for ruining comics, all the hipsterism and love and peace shit ruined the medium which was on the cusp of mature storytelling in the 90s and 2000s.
This is retarded. Graphic novels have always been like 20% good comics with real artistic merit surrounded by an 80% ocean of woke garbage, long before “woke” was even a term. If anything, the 80s and 90s graphic novels/alt comix scene was the original breeding ground for that kind of content before Tumblr or the modern internet existed. Love and Rockets, Strangers in Paradise, The Incal, Blacksad, Maus, and pretty much anything by Alan Moore or Neil Gaiman were all hugely influential woke garbage before Scott Pilgrim was a thing. And if you really want to go back, R. Crumb was the godfather of cuckoldry decades before Scott Pilgrim existed, and the early furry fandom also grew out of the underground comix scene.

Good graphic novels have always existed. But pretending the medium was on the verge of some pure, gritty maturity until Bryan Lee O’Malley ruined it is just retarded. It's always been a medium plagued by woke signaling and degenerate gooner shit.

Wikipedia and Reddit are really bad at this.
One of the worst things Reddit did when it empowered its mods to be guardians of all thought was to let the whole "If you respond to the modmail, it's considered harassment and you will be banned" bullshit fly. Mods could take a dislike to you for whatever reason, delete anything they felt like, and then get your entire account banned when you DARED to reply to modmail. Once that bullshit started happening, reddit was done.

He so desperately wants to be taken seriously and it’s obvious in almost everything he does. It’s both pathetically hilarious and hilariously pathetic.
I swear Reddit is almost entirely bots now. I suspect that's why Reddit just initiated a feature to hide a user's post history. Bot accounts were easy to spot by checking post history (the majority of them are old unused accounts bought up on the darkweb with few posts until recently). & all the posts contradict one another. Like the Redditor claims to be going to going to med school/law school/in the army/in the navy., claims to be married/divorced/has kids/is childfree.

We lose a lot of technical expertise every time this happens – kids end up pushing pixels around – because that is the only legal thing they can do that isn’t a huge hassle. RC planes and similar hobbies have been an entry point for the technical fields for a long time.
And without fail, if this is discussed anywhere online that isn't the Farms you eventually get some fag going on about "umm sweaty that hobby was actually really dangerous/oppressive mega yikes you just don't remember all the bad consequences because of nostalgia and survivorship bias. Le current year is way better". I've seen similar arguments about things like increasing numbers of kids with peanut allergies. Apparently back in the 80s and 90s it was exactly the same but we just let the peanut allergy kids die and we all forgot the kids that totally existed in our elementary schools getting carted off in an ambulance and dying. Because dontcha know the past was le heckin bad!

Holy shit, do not get me started on the peanut allergy thing.

The online debate about peanut allergies in the early 00’s is one of the earliest instances I remember of the “I demand everyone reconfigure society to accommodate me and if you don’t, you’re a child murderer” argument strategy that SJWs and troons would eventually adopt years later. Every peanut allergy debate I ever saw went the exact same way every time. It was surreal.

Yes, the ultimate argument seems to be "it might be unsafe or you might get hurt". So, the chances of an airliner crashing due to eating a drone has been reduced by 30% maybe. I visited with one of the people responsible for the regulation – he had left the FAA and became an overpaid consultant. He told me without my asking the regulations did nothing to restrict bad actors. The reality is that anyone with know-how, an Arduino mega, 3 axis gyro and a GPS antenna, and a few other parts (under $150) can build and unregistered and difficult to trace drone.

It is difficult to compute the risk/benefit ratio when the upside is visible, but the risk is invisible, no planes crashing due to drones is the upside of regulation. The potential downside could be 100,000 kids and teenagers over the next 10 years not getting into a constructive hobby because of over regulation, which has a long term financial and personal cost. Maybe 50,000 of those people would find work in a STEM field – instead of working a job unsuited to their abilities.

The safety argument is very selectively used though. Throwing your life down a black hole of gaming, porn, weed, and alcoholism/gas station drugs is ok – even though you can never get those years back. I guess having a pulse for a certain number of years– is what really matters.

It's been said many times, but the uppercase I Internet. I feel like these all just go under the general umbrella of "corporations", though you can add on "government", regardless of which dipshit, color-coded braindead team is in office. You can also shove "troons/politics/wokeism/influencers/alt right" if it's some "alt-site" with funding (like Rumble, nu-Twitter) under it, but it's corporations/gooberment and the theoretical consolidation of the Internet as a whole. Rather than hundreds and thousands of weird little sites with their own cultures and their own rules and their own in-jokes, you now get your cluster of massive corporate sites. Youtube, Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, Wikipedia, apps like TikTok, rightoid corpo alt-sites that just copy/paste what the shitlibs do, you get the idea. Before, you could customize a site, you could post anonymously, each site had rules that reflected it's owner, and they >did it for free. It was a system with flaws, but it was much easier to find a community to your liking, or curate your own.

Now, it's all the same rules enforced by jeet males, bots, and AI. It's monetization, where content is bloated, with little to say, to run ads. Where the worst humans (and I use the word "humans" loosely) among us can post infinite WHITE WAHMEN BAD memes, and their half-headed audience with an IQ of 65 will reblog it and generate shekels for the OP. Where power-tripping troons will delete benign sentences that are relevant to an uncontroversial Wikipedia article, because it may say something they disagree with. Dipshits who, once, had to get real jobs. In the corporate/government hellscape, everything has become political, sanitized yet simultaneously driven to extremes, and monetized. And it's reflected all the way down into everything now. Gay ass fandom drama (muh boys kissing boys because I am a girl who hates being a girl, muh boobies are gone I am a conservative trad man who needs constant jerkoff material) become acts of political rebellion for weirdo shut-ins, and bleeds out into the media. Arguments are "discourse" rather than retarded slapfights, a dumbass apologist for a shitty movie who made a monetized video is now some god who has Something To Say. Videos about grim topics, but you can't use the words "rape", "sexual assault", "killed himself", or "committed suicide", it may take away your shekels, whoopsie-doodle! People clustered like smokers under a rickety wooden structure outside a non-smoking facility in the Arizona heat, underneath the gay ass rules of a site, forced to play by those rules. And the weirdos that sort of climate will create: Good People™️ (they aren't), desperate to not rock the boat and show you what Good People™️ they are, or contrarians, who want to do the opposite, but are too stupid to realize they don't have the smarts to raise their performative vindictive views above petty viciousness. More often than not, the same person oscillates between these two personas, regularly.

Again, it all goes back to corporations and the government, the people they back, and their control of you.

And it's made everything online a whole lot less funny.

I see this a lot and it always confuses me.
  • It is Electroon bloat that'll occupy 1GB of RAM minimum at all times, even if you use the browser. Supposedly this balloons up to 4GB with use but that's hearsay to me.
    • It is literally against the rules to use any alternate client (Though you absolutely should.)
  • Despite being used as the be-all end-all file host, Discord staff will pull any guild that gets too large and doesn't align with standard Big Tech values.
    • Which links into my first point about it being used by every nigger as an ersatz file server.
  • It is intrusive. Go use it now and see if you don't get a floating ad.
  • It is a space where your niche interest can be lorded over by the lowest common denominator in the same vein as what @Flatline wrote.
    • The Dominions community was hit very hard by this because it's a forum game made of a series of small, hermetic communities (Like ours!). The main Discord community for it, Nexus, has the kind of jannies that will scroll through three years of messages to look for a reason to ban you (as happened with Boz.)
  • I don't like it. It is gay.
I don't want to start talking about data privacy because these things begin at the user. As a brief aside though, everything you type into discord is, by default, being used to train LLM. This was announced in a privacy policy update that, to their credit, blocked you from using the program until you accepted it.

Everything offered by Nitro is as queer as a three dollar bill, but things are worth what the left side of the bell curve is willing to pay for them; that's not really the company's fault.

There's hardly anything to be confused about. There's no reason that an IM program should be this shit and yet this ubiquitous. However, you can't just 'use another' because these systems are only as good as their users. Until the whole thing crashes and burns, it is, if nothing else, an effective containment for the aforementioned dregs of the capital-I internet.

Maybe it’s just me but I get an ad like once a month at most.

I agree that discord users tend to be annoying, but that goes to the point I made in my comments. Just don’t interact with them.

Idk maybe it’s just me but this has been incredibly easy for me. If you’re running a server, have a tight verification system. If you’re joining a server, look over the conversations before you talk and if you don’t like what you see then leave. You won’t be missing anything.

I guess I also don’t have much of a desire to be in a community for every interest of mine, so I don’t go searching on Disboard much.
