I don't know what happened to it. I know I've posted on here before while wearing my Adam West Batman costume though. I showed up as BeerMan one time for no reason at all but I took an Adam West costume, taped a budweiser logo from a box over the bat, and swapped the utility belt for a belt that holds cans. I feel this shit. I've tried to get back into "comics" and at my age it's insufferable. I don't know anyone IRL who's big on the culture warrior bit, but online communities are infested. Only "comic fans" I know IRL are basically into cape shit or not actually into comics, but the "cinematic universe" or general "pop culture" instead.

I think I've lamented this before around here, but old school alternative furry comics are right out, as modern furries are degenerates first, creatives or comic enthusiasts a distant second, if at all. Really, the internet has all but killed print alt comics, as everything is just a web comic now.

The troons have really made the InfoSec/hacking scene cringe, it used to be a lot more fun meeting people.

I don't even go to infosec cons anymore due to all the fake and gay shit. It was fun when you could go and just party with a bunch of hackers and make friends. There was always a bunch of gay shit going on, but only if you knew it was going on, such as the pool and shower parties at DefCon. Now its "x-identity in cyber" and normies wanting to buy wifi pineapples. All the orgs who younger me thought were fighting the good fight, EFF for example, are now consumed by reddit-level ideology.

It makes me incredibly sad when I think about it too much. Every year I'd hit 5 or so cons. I had a good group of friends who would always be at various ones throughout the year, so I'd always have a good time even if I was flying solo. Won some CTFs, just started giving talks, and now its all fake and gay and the legends have all left the scene. I can only assume they feel the same. I remember the "boobies incident" that sparked the end of DerbyCon and saw the end coming, but it still sucks that its all over.

About five years ago, some fat cunt at my work complained that she kept getting left out of afterwork drinks and parties. Our HR team issued out an email that chided people for not being inclusive enough and to consider who gets asked to these little get togethers. This cunt still didn't get invited and everyone just met in private. You might ask how this was acceptable and it was considered a hostile work environment to be left out of out of work functions, even if they weren’t held by the company.

This is why I loved working remote. Even when I went in to qn office, no matter how much I liked my coworkers, I was all set with after hours events, save for one-offs.

The fact that RTO was pushed by corporations (if it wasn't for culling the herd) and so many people bent over backwards (or even embraced it (ugh!)) tells me all I need to know about how stupid the average person in the US is and why I'm more frightened for the future than ever.

And on the subject of Blackbelt Hamsters, I was more so surprised at just how many things like that existed. This dude had a whole long box full of shit like that. There was a metric ton of that shit that came out trying to cash in. Before I went to that group the only funny animal books I was ever exposed to was Disney, crumb, turtles, and other relatively normie shit that you'd be aware of outside of comics in general. I guess Usagi Yojimbo was the one other one I was personally into but I only knew of that because of the turtles as a kid anyways and regardless I'd probably say it's a pretty mainstream success or at least was at some point.

That type of thing is just stuff I'd never look for on my own time so stuff like Omaha and all the turtles rip offs were interesting. There was other non furry sex comics we looked at too, a lot of those late 80s early 90s random ass anthologies and stuff. Women are just really into art of female anatomy.

I've always been a particularly dc capeshit guy but I just love the medium, it's particularly difficult to find anyone into anything outside of as you said really just the movie pop culture shit not even comics themselves, and if I do happen to meet anyone into just comics in general in my experience they're mostly culture war retards who will just want to talk about whatever the newest indie black dyke comic they read is.

It's hard to find newer books worth a shit because whatever you do find is usually filled with the same isms that have killed most tv and movies for me these days. I'm not nor ever have been opposed to political media I agree or disagree with its mostly how they're written that irritates me.

What @el bandito loco said, I really really like comics too but I'm just spending most of my days searching for heavy metal issues and Italian/spanish comics from the 70s when I'm not rereading old stuff or reading manga. American comics went from creepy magazine producing top tier horror stories with fantastic artwork to hiring tumblrinas to do harley quinns farttastic spectacular. In the 90s and 2000s a lot of movies were comic book adaptations, very mature comic book adaptations like a history of violence, road to perdition, the crow, maybe eastern promises as well. I would blame people like bryan lee o malley for ruining comics, all the hipsterism and love and peace shit ruined the medium which was on the cusp of mature storytelling in the 90s and 2000s. Punisher max's russian storyline is one of the first instances I've seen of comic books dealing with things like 9/11 being a staged false flag, the military industrial complex, the Pentagon training jihadists covertly, real tom Clancy level stuff. Idk the most recent comic I tried out is probably the daredevil run by zdarsky, it is very mediocre and zdarskys gay hipsterism bleeds from it like ooze from pus.

As for another example I would probably say movies. It's been taken over by theatre kids while in the past it was filled by technicians. Most of the great 70s 80s and 90s directors were technicians, not gay theater kids. James cameron has a physics degree, David fincher and oliver stone I think did journalism, a lot of them had real technical educations. The actors as well, dolph lundgren did chemistry and rowan atkinson did electrical engineering at Oxford. Not all of them were overly technical, scorsese and tarantino were amateur street kid types but none of them were faggots. Look at our current day director generation. Other than robert eggers and probably denis villeneuve theyre all gay theater kids only capable of producing slop. Great gerwhig and damien chazelle seem to be the benchmark for the slop generation of cinema, both being faggot theater kids.

That is a lot of the issue. You're being told how to feel, I get it in more of a first person type of biographical thing, but a lot of stuff is so cut and dry black and white this is great that is EVIL it's obnoxious. I don't mind political arguments being made by characters or understanding their point of view, but the way a lot of modern media talks down to the audience is insulting.

It's all in presentation. Some of my favorite stories broken down into their politics are things I disagree with, but they're written well, or entertaining, or the characters have more depth than the writer's annoying self insert mouthpiece. It's like your average "woke" thing. I have no problem with gay characters, strong women, or minority characters. It's when it stops to point it out like look how great this is, or their entire personality is only defined by their whateverness that ruins it. It's either cynical bullshit or written by and in a way that the writer is probably only actually cut out for YA novels for children.

Worst instances of this is when it corrupts the source material somehow. Late 2000s-2010s specifically are pock marked by the absolute sludge of a lot of characters being "CONFIRMED GAY!" some point after a popular thing with those kinds of fans was over. it was almost always NEVER in the actual series itself, hinted or otherwise. It was always absurd train of thought shit like "oh wow this group of friends that contains two or more of the same sex went through some really rough shit and got concerned over a member of their friend group being put through literal torture that pushed their body to the breaking point and the one that was the same sex was crying for the other one so they're GAY GUYS THEY"RE GAAAAY CAUSE THEY CRIED OVER THEIR LIFELONG FRIEND BEING RIPPED TO FUCKING PIECES AND FLAYED THAT MEANS THEY'RE SECRETLY WANNA FUCK EACH OTHER GUYS!"

I see this a lot and it always confuses me. Whenever I want a program and the download is only in discord, I just download it and… Leave the discord. That or I keep it in a channel file and never talk there aside from questions, which usually the developers can focus long enough to at least answer a question on a technical error.

Maybe your experience is different than me, but I never experienced significant problems with the whole download link in discord thing personally. Aside from it being annoying and hard to find the discord.
