Now that the entire set of cards has been laid out (besides some suprise extra chapter in 2028 with the aftermath of Trump's second term), It really makes me ponder just how much different things could have been if so many factors listed throughout each part that has done such possibly irreparable damage to every cultural sphere and the Internet as a whole never existed, would things be better? possibly, but it could have easily have given way to something far worse, or what could be seen as a brighter future than we have now.

The bullshit we're dealing with right now was already festering in the universities, and in the dark corners of the internet, for a good long while. The four things talked about seem to be the different patient zeroes in many different aspects of culture, whether it be television, remix internet culture and forums, independent games development, or AAA games development respectively.

I honestly couldn't wrap my head around the first half of Case IV, but are you saying the secret ingredient was Paper Mario? Because that's legit nuts to say. I know it's a beloved series and the fans can be rabid (Chuggaaconroy's "Sticking it to Sticker Star" is one of the most autistic breakdowns I've seen), but I’m honestly having a hard time seeing how deeply influential it was to Internet culture even with the evidence presented.

In the grand scheme of things, I'd say the "secret ingredient" wasn't just Paper Mario, but GameCube nostalgia as a whole. TTYD did play a massive part though, due to the Sticker Star/Color Splash backlash.
Really, Tumblr played a major part in kicking off nostalgia for both the 5th and 6th generations of consoles, and a lot of the more obscure/niche/colorful/wacky/Japanese hidden gems they housed. Your Bomberman 64s, your Snowboard Kids, your Mr. Dominos, your Klonoas, Stretch Panics, Mega Man Legends, Kirby 64s, Silhouette Mirages, Ape Escapes...
Heck, in the case of Bomberman, Bomberman Hero is home to "that one song everyone has heard at least once, but probably doesn't know where it came from":

I think it's more about the online impact of the backlash on the DS games and the connection it has to the games repainted community.

The one hole I feel like could have been addressed was the Netflix version of Voltron, how it was such a popular series among tumblr with their Yaoi Fanfictions and then Tumblr getting pissed at them for not giving them what they want and causing drama with that, and I know that Rooster Teeth, particularly RWBY, had its fair share of Tumblr fans and tumblr shit taking it over as well. I think that whole trend of "Western Anime" could have been discussed somewhere. But irregardless this is still a very well detailed thing over all of this shit, and I am glad I took the plunge into reading all of it and understanding it.

As someone who has always appreciated the GameCube since childhood, I hate that it was the main platform freaks latched onto so hard.
It's an underrated as fuck console with so many hidden gem titles and it deserves its flowers but weirdos choose to further muddy its reputation instead </3
