Unfortunately, the courts don’t exist to give people what they deserve. Nick seems to be a genuinely evil person with no remorse for anything he did wrong. He seems to actively hate his own family based on his callous actions, and may be a psychopath. He deserves Canadian Healthcare.

The court is there to carry out justice based on a crime. Unfortunately his crime wasn’t being a gigantic douchebag. It was possession of a moderate amount of cocaine. Based on that alone, 5 years probation is actually really harsh.

There’s a lot of overlap with Chris Chan’s post-Barb sentencing. He did over a year in jail, yet people think he deserved more. Unfortunately, the punishment for incest is…well, maximally about a year in prison. Does he also deserve something far worse for being a terrible person? Maybe, but the court can only really convict based on a charge, not a total evaluation of character.

I'll remind everyone that Nick swore up and down that he was 100% right on the Franks motion. He will look you in the face today and say there is no doubt that the application for the search warrant could not have met the probable cause standard because there is reasonable doubt that the Cog video hadn't been tampered with. I tried to find the tweets but he was going nuts on Twitter arguing with people about it after his motion dropped.

I think part of it is a lot of people are unconvinced that that was *consensual* incest, which means we think the punishment was for the wrong crime entirely.
