It was not ITT tech, but a local school that was actually non-profit. At the time, I had no idea about what to expect from going to college,etc I just simply figured I could trust my relatives. As I mentioned, I did end up going to a state uni, but I did briefly look into Devry. With just my single phone call to their campus asking about the CS degrees, they had some recruiter lady drive nearly 3 hours to come visit me in my house (on the wrong side of town as well lol) just a few days later. They are clearly optimized for sales and nothing else.
I doubt that era is over. I still see plenty of commercials that air on local programming channels everyday around lunch time. No-name stuff all advertising "get x degree in ONLY x months. CALL NOW!" The school I went to was a non-profit btw. Non-profit just means instead of getting shareholders richer, you can only get the owner and his buddies richer.
