Since I don't know for sure who's responsible for the troubleshooting nightmare I just went through, I'm gonna pull a Roger Ebert and just blame every party involved equally:

Shame on you, HP.
Shame on you, Linux Mint.
Shame on you, Microsoft.
Shame on you, Intel.

Fuck computers.

Along the same line, I hate computer problems that recur, but rarely enough you somehow manage to fix them, but know the next time it happens, you'll still have no clue how you fixed it and have to figure it out again. This is especially when you have to muddle around twiddling multiple obscure things you don't understand until it just starts working so you stop.

And it doesn't happen often enough you can flowchart it or figure out exactly what's wrong.

How in the SJW art thread, that is 90% gross pooner porn by now, people still go "FTMs transition to escape abuse, it is MTFs who are coomers" and people agree. This was never the case, or we would have had TONS of FTMs in the past, and we not only had very few, but most known cases are women pretending to be men to rape-by-deception normal women/gay marry in secret or women crossdressing to perform jobs we get prohibited to do and not living like a guy afterwards. I only know of entire one historical FTM not in these two categories.

Saw a trailer for the US remake of Doc Martin and I almost fell asleep just looking at the leads. Somehow they took a show that was already “Hallmark Channel with cliffs” and make it look even cheaper.

This equally applies to mechanical problems as well. Hydraulics are the most fun because sometimes the problem manifests in a way that it suddenly makes a huge mess at best and could potentially kill someone at worst.

My dumbass cat can't decide if he wants to get under the bed covers or not. He'll whine and paw at the entrance of them like he wants under, but if I walk over to help him in he'll run over to the other side of the bed and stare at me. If I walk away then he goes back to trying to get under again. If I get him under the covers then half the time he'll jump out after a minute, walk around the bed, and then cry and paw at it trying to get under again.

People who spend all their time planning the right way/the best way/the most efficient way so that they end up never actually doing it. Like does it really fucking matter if you can drain 20ml more old oil out during your oil change if it takes you 4 hours more to do it? I doubt it.

My guess is NEETs who had societal legitimation for their lifestyle
Or petty authoritarians who wanted to express their authoritah by snitching on as many people as possible. I’ve seen those people reminisce fondly about 2020-2021.

There are some retards that still do the TERF thing here. The only proper solution is to call it out. They’ll get asshurt but they’ll eventually stop.

See also: tranny monomania. If I’m on a thread about high speed rail or some shit like that, don’t bring up trannies unless it is directly applicable to the thread discussion. I feel like it’s a pathetic form of sticker farming here where people think you have to give a positive sticker out.

Martin Clunes was the best thing about the original UK show. He carried it. I mean, yeah, he would, and should, naturally, as he was the lead. Just like how Hugh Laurie is a lot of what makes House great.

Clunes was in a film I really like, called Goodnight, Mr Chips, which is from 2002, and there were two versions beforehand, from 1969, and 1939. All of them notably different:

1939, with Robert Donat (from the original The 39 Steps film), is at a boarding school, starting from the 1870s, the 1969 one has Peter O'Toole, and includes World War II, mainly over World War I; but the Clunes one, like the original novel, goes into World War I at least.

This Margot Robbie. Eh? Margot Robbie with all those little outfits... jumpin' around there half-naked... with your little outfits.

Credit where it’s due, the cast is very good.
The Large boys are absolute kings. Caroline Catz is a true English rose. Each time the show introduced some new romantic rival, it was hilarious. Yeah okay, this jobber is gonna outcompete Louisa.

Co-worker gets sick: "Oh, it happens, hope you get better!"

I get sick: "We will need a doctor's note for the day you're out and you will have to get a new one if you still don't feel up to coming in the next day. No, it doesn't matter your attendance record is perfect and you have more responsibilities, you're getting the third degree because screw you."

Caught a glimpse of a large bug scurrying into some corner of my kitchen. Went to look for it and it’s nowhere to be seen. Out of sight out of mind, but a week later I saw it again, and again couldn’t find it. Now I just have to accept that it could be anywhere or nowhere for the rest of my/its life.

Watching anything new and holding my breath for the inevitable white oppressor allegory to be revealed.

We keep watching movies from the nineties on down. Not really because of nostalgia but because they're just stories without a secret agenda. Even when an older movie has a distinct message or point of view, it doesn't have this slimy wormy way of getting it across or making the audience feel guilt.

My favorite thing is when old movies end up becoming true by sheer happenstance. The only difference between our reality and Robocop is that we didn't even get to have any of the cool robots.

Because we let so much of our heavy industry go to China because fuck labor and environmental standards and also China was renouncing Maoism and liberalizing so obviously if we gave them our shit and traded with them, they'd inevitably become an Our Democracy™️ and be our best friend!

They made a full court press with this after 9/11. We can’t feature any Arabs as the bad guys because Islam is the Religion of Peace ™️ so therefore it was nothing but white people being evil. Maybe the occasional ambiguous Chinese person who can play a North Korean in a pinch.

Sick and "took off" work but still had to start with an 8 am critical meeting then jam in some work before wearing out my fingers taking notes for seven solid hours of courses involving presenters talking as fast as they could to jam 20 hours of information into 7 (less 2 10-minute breaks (measured down to the second and one was literally 9 minutes and 30 seconds) + 15 minutes for lunch). In the meantime, my calendar booked up for multiple meetings starting at 8am Monday bc 87 high-priority crises happened in a day. GOSH!
