For most of them, their only consistent principle is "I want everyone I don't like to be miserable." That's it. It's not about making things better for themselves or the country in general, it's about "owning" whoever their cultural enemies are.
What makes me angry is that there are, or at least were earlier on, working-class people who had legitimate grievances against the system. People who felt like they were being abandoned and left behind by a changing world. That would make anyone scared and angry, especially if they have a family to take care of or are already struggling to get by. Trump took those legitimate grievances and parasitized them. He got them onboard by promising that he was different from the others and that he'd destroy the corruption and drain the swamp and all of that. And then, as soon as he got their votes, he abandoned them. Diehard miggers nowadays, the ones who are willing to take his shit because their enemies might get hit with even more shit, don't want solutions, they want fights they can "win".
