The battery itself will be fine and work well.
Modern lithium-based chemistries can contain much more energy than lead-acid, energy density approaching that of gasoline or diesel fuel. Some variants will also self ignite in a manner that is impossible to put out if done wrong. So yes, it can take some smarts to build batteries that are also useful for storing electricity and not just bombs, or at least design a process that a retard can safely follow.
