I will say, as fucking retarded as it is he was late, the last vote being R is really good for the narrative. It was a Republican who cast the decisive vote. Powerful narrative.

CBS News claims he took so long to vote because he "rushed to the capital from the airport after his flight was delayed because of a lack of air traffic controllers due to the shutdown".
There was this network show, Brain Dead, that my stepdad liked watching because it starred Tony Shalhoub, and he's a big Monk fan.
It only lasted a season, but I remember there was a scenario almost exactly like this in it where the R and D leaders couldn't make it to the floor to filibuster because the shutdown delayed all transporation.

I can accept that I'm a retard. I'd appreciate if you could explain to me how it's a win. Your username suggests an optimistic outlook, I hope it's infectious.
At the middle of last week the Proggies were hyper energized and optimistic because they achieved the "incredible" act of winning by normal margins in their home turf.

Now the Proggies are actively threatening to kill the DNC leadership on Reddit because Shumer cucked out and spent the past month with the Government closed and gained literally nothing from it.

Imagine shutting down the government for over a month and winning a bunch of elections, energizing your base for the first time in a year, only to cave on literally everything you shut it down over only a week later.
That's how pathetic Dems are.

This was terrible optics for the dems to just offer 8 votes, because now all of them can be challenged by “being the deciding vote”

Pelosi knew when she rammed Obummercare through she needed one more than necessary to offset this optically as a campaign point. They still got obliterated that year (but stayed together to get it through) but that’s how you avoid an easy campaign attack.

I don't get it. It looked like this was an opportunity to fire a bunch of civil servants, we were gonna get funny riots o algo, maybe permanently fuck with Senate procedure; none of that is happening now. And the idea is that was all a red herring, actually the idea is that it was all leverage to stop Democrats from extending paying for healthcare for illegals? They were never going to get that! They do not control ANY branch! This is what Dems are dooming about? This is our big win? Nothing good happened. Nothing funny happened. Boo to this bullshit. I hope when they get together to pass the next cucktinuing resolution a meteor hits DC.
None of that was in the bill that Republicans tried to initially pass and was blocked. All of those could have been consequences if this went on and things continued to heat up. But Republican just got everything they asked for at the start with basically zero concessions to the Democrats who had initially a massive list of demands. When you get everything you ask for at the start and the people who hate you get nothing they asked for, you call that a win.

it's called the art of the deal.

Far be it from me to be an optimist, but here goes. As little as 12 hours ago most folks thought the right was going to cave on the ACA, and that the dems had won again. For once, in a good while, the right actually stayed strong and held together. They say cowardice spreads like a virus. well so does bravery, and despite all the shit I heap on them, it was pretty brave of them to stick together and force the faggot dems to cave for a change.

Even when Democrats have momentum from a positive election they still lose
It's the ultimate white pill- we're winning not necessarily because the right is smart, but because the left is dumb. They could assassinate the entire populist GOP and it wouldn't stop the leftist ship from sinking. It's the ultimate barrier to me becoming a doomer, no matter how bad everything else is.

european butting into american politics to tell americans how stupid they are because they don't want to give infinity free healthcare to illegals. i'd bet real money this euronigger doesn't have any idea what the democrat subsidies even are.

"we" you are a SELF-ADMITTED EUROPEAN.
It's always the European redditors that have the most retarded takes.

I for one thought they'd have been wise to take the 1 year extension. I didn't see any way to open the government otherwise if they weren't going to nuke the filibuster. Low and behold, standing for their principles, for once, got them a pretty big W. And it's important too, because it is a morale victory. The Right will be galvanized, and the Democrats demoralized. This effectively killed all Democrat momentum in its tracks.

I'm going to cry and piss and shit my pants
(can someone be as charitable as possible to the Dems and tell me how they are going to spin this? it seems absurd)
Say nothing and move on, they got all those votes in the election, saved the fired federal workers and hopefully have finally realized that they can't just yell "healthcare, healthcare, healthcare" on repeat like this is the U-fucking-K. They were on offense this time and failed but that doesn't mean they lost, it just means that things are no better off then they were before this started.
