Call for Registrations: Kiwi Farms Comix Jam Anthology
kiwicomicjam logo2.png

Attention to comic creators across the Farms!

After watching the first Kiwi Farms Game Jam spark so much creativity within the community, I'm excited to open submissions for original comics; inviting artists, writers, and storytellers of all kinds to bring their ideas to life in a brand-new anthology project.

I'm calling it the Kiwi Farms Comix Jam Anthology.

The reason I started the project is simple; because Kiwi Farms has been, for so long, a place where people come together to talk smack on lolcows, toxic streamers, grifters and of course, bad media. So many paragraphs spent critiquing and dissecting every single word of shoddy YA novels, or shitting on terribly written "indie" animated series. Yet, most attempts by our creative Kiwis here to unite and create something to represent ourselves on the market have inevitably fizzled out.

This project aims to buck this trend, and actually prove that us Kiwis can indeed produce comics of artistic merit, that even non-Kiwis could enjoy.

The Kiwi Farms Comix Jam Anthology GUIDELINES

I want all submissions to reflect the free-spirited nature of the Farms. You can be offensive, heartfelt or reflective. But we want you to be genuine first and foremost.

This Jam's theme is: "Adventures with A Kiwi"

Ah yes, the iconic Kiwi of our forum. We want YOU to create a short story revolving around our mascot, be it strange encounters with lolcows, Internet personalities or even freaky fandoms, or non-KF related stories featuring the Kiwi, it's up to you. We only stipulate the mandatory inclusion of our beloved Kiwi in the story. We are open to all kinds of art styles from Kiwis, as long as they are done from scratch. Hence, we will not accept submissions written or illustrated by AI. We just think this challenge will be more interesting that way.

Will there be prizes?
Nope. This is an anthology, not a contest. We are doing this for the love of the craft.

HOW TO REGISTER:

Individuals

Make a post on this thread by the 30th of November, 2025 saying, "I am ready to join the Jam by myself." This is optional, but you can share images of your prior artwork or even comic pages on the post. You will be added to a PM chain to move forward from this first phase.

Alternatively, if you are not interested in producing comics at all but are still interested in helping out for this project, send me a PMby the end of March 2026, saying "I am ready to join the Jam as a Proofreader/Editor." You will be added to the main PM chain to help proofread participants' works.

Groups
Say, you are not confident in your art skills, but you are more confident in your writing and want to be a writer for a comic entry, or vice versa. Then, make a post on this thread by 23rd of November, 2025 saying, "I am ready to join the Jam, as a writer/artist/colorist." Same as the Individuals section, you can showcase your works on the post.

You will be added to a separate PM chain with other users, where you can find and team up with whoever to form a Team Unit. Once that's done, the Team Units will be added into the main PM chain with Individual participants, and will move forward from this first phase.

Please note that you are only allowed to be in one Team Unit. Once you are part of a Team Unit, you cannot make an Individual submission separately. So be mindful when choosing between doing the comic yourself or joining a Team with other Kiwis.

What are the Phases/ What is the Timeline?
Speaking of which, let me explain the timeline for the Comix Jam. This months-long journey has multiple Phases we have to go through to reach completion.

Phase in Comix Jam TimelineWhat will be done during this Phase
A. Registration Period
(9th Nov - 30th Nov 2025)
Kiwi Farms users will register for this Jam by indicating their interest to join in a post, indicating they are either going solo, or looking to work with others as a team.
The participants are funneled into their respective group chats - Solo entrants will be continuously added to the main PM chain from 16th Nov onwards, whilst those looking to form a team will be added to a supplementary PM chain to form teams. from 16th Nov till 24th Nov.
Once the teams are formed, those users will be added to the main PM chain by 30th Nov.
There will not be any more participants added to the main PM chain from 1st Dec onwards.
B. Ideation Period
(Dec 2025)
Once the participant numbers are locked in, the second Phase of the Jam begins.
For the whole month of December, Kiwis will have to plan out the premise, plot and characters for their comic entries.
Kiwis are encouraged to post in the main PM chain and share their works in progress, sharing feedback and constructive criticism on how their ideas can be improved.
By the end of this Phase, Solo Kiwis and Team Kiwis should have the backbone of their story ready.
C. Production Period
(Jan - Apr 2026)
This is by far the longest and most arduous period of the entire Comic Jam.
Kiwis will have four months to write and draw the comic. Fleshing out the characters, adding more visual detail to the worldbuilding, etc. - This is when you release your imaginations and go all out to create your best possible work.
There will be weekly posts from yours truly requesting updates on the Kiwis' work, like the How's Your Webcomic thread on 4chan's/co/ board. It is highly encouraged to maintain regular updates so I don't think you are flaking out on the project.
D. Finalisation Period
(May 2026)
This last month is reserved for quick edits and finalizations to your works as we prepare the release of the compiled anthology. Proofreaders and Editors will be brought in during this period or earlier to ensure errors in text (dialogue, captions, thought balloons etc.) are caught and fixed before final release.
This is also a saving grace period for those who could not complete their comics by April 2026 to get their works done. I still strongly encourage all participants to complete their works on time to reduce stress on the release of the anthology,.

Details:
  • Minimum page count is 4 pages and page limit is 12 pages. At the very least, comics should be an even page count. If you want to do strip gags, you will have to provide multiple gags to fill out the minimum page requirement.
  • Sex, nudity and fetish subjects are strictly forbidden for this project (unless you are mocking lolcows, in which case I could allow depending on how gratuitous the content is) - however gore, violence and profanity are allowed (I just don't want jerk off comics in this anthology, unless you jerk off to gore, in which case, what the fuck nigger?)
  • Original submissions only. No reusing previous work for this anthology.
  • Comics in color or black and white art are both acceptable, though color is preferable.
  • Any art style is allowed as long as the story is funny or otherwise good.
  • Canvas dimensions should be standard A4 size, maybe slightly larger for margins.
TL;DR
Screw the Mainstream Comics Industry and screw Comicsgate, we can make our own comics anthology and prove our capabilities as artistic Kiwis. So, don't hesitate and join in on the action! Thanks for reading this OP.

Special thanks to @Nihil Jung , who offered to be my Main Editor and created the template for this post. Another thanks to @WE'RE ALL GONNA who created the initial Kiwi Comix Jam logo that I traced to make a vector version.

sign me up as an individual, 4-12 pages in 5 months is NBD
I put those requirements under the consideration that most users have full time jobs and other commitments which will take away focus on this comic, which means a limited amount of time to work on the comic regularly. Hence 5 months should give most people a comfortable time frame to chip away at working on the comic, unless someone is very lazy, in which case... that's on them.

I do work full time so it makes sense

I was going to say “I’m hesitant because I haven’t got any good ideas, but I’m interested.”

Then I came up with something cute and now I can’t say no.

Sign me up as an individual, I guess. :story:

Probably worth noting that I’m horribly out of practice and never learned my fundamentals. Despite drawing comics on/off my entire life, I can’t do realism for shit and my toons aren’t much better. I’ll probably take most of the allotted time to try and practice those, but don’t be surprised if the final product still ends up subpar lol.

EDIT: actually, depending on if someone has a drawing style that would fit what I’m going for (mine isn’t too fitting), I might slot in as just a writer instead. Don’t default to that, please sign me up as an individual first, but if there are any artists with a sort of soft pastel-y style (like you’d find in an old educational book or an illustrated fairy tale) then I’m willing to work in a group with them.

Oh nice! Count me in for sure.

Ill go in as an individual but will gladly offer my services to anyone that needs a little help. I'm a decent colorist and have a little skill with caricature, but I'm happy to help in whatever way I can.

I participated in the Secret Santa as an artist last year and had a blast (both with submission and my gift) so I look forward to seeing what everyone makes!

I'm sorry but you're gonna need to choose between the two. I don't want the workload to be too heavy for any one participant.

This anthology is intended to be a learning opportunity for all participants, so don't be afraid of not hitting some arbitrary standard of aesthetic quality. I am fine with 12 Oz Mouse but I will not tolerate ideological drivel in these entries. In other words, keep true to your vision and work within your means.

I'm highlighting this so others who have doubts and are reading through can see this post.
