The first time I saw that, I didn't know where it came from and just thought it was stupid.

The second time I saw that, I read some of Aella's posts about it and thought it was stupid because she surveyed reddit/twitter/fetlife and the methodology is nonsense, but didn't know much about her beyond seeing a few of her more popular pieces of visual content and the "child pornography should be made for children" thing.

This third time I'm seeing it, I've learned enough about her to recognize that nearly everything on it is probably about Aella's life. Things done to/by people around her.

It would be sad if she were a less horrible person.

I was intrigued to begin with. "I was raped" definitely carries a very specific connotation of forceful, unwanted penetration; but a victim could make that same statement about some other unwanted sexual act and still be factually correct. I have also heard of women being sexually assaulted to varying degrees but being unwilling to use a word as violent as "rape". I don't know what merit there is to trying to convey that on a spectrum, but I figured there is probably a kernel of an intriguing conversation to be had there.

It has a Trolley Problem sort of appeal in that you can change details, get a radically different response, and with enough scenarios can sort of map out where the proverbial lines are crossed.

E.g., Two people, who both want to have sex, with each other, have sex with each other, sex which they both want.
"0% Rape", right?

Identical underlying scenario as above, but they're strangers, one uses force to intitiate the sexual encounter with the other, who screams and fights the entire time.
"100% Rape".

Identical underlying scenario, but one has down syndrome.
17%.

Identical underlying scenario, but one is 16 and the other is 26.
46%.

Identical underlying scenario, but one is drunk and the other is sober.
37%.

Identical underlying scenario, but one lies and pretends not to be into it.
46%.

You could probably get different answers by specifying different combinations of gender.

E.g., A 16 year old boy and a 26 year old woman vs a 16 year old girl and a 26 year old man vs a 16 year old boy and a 26 year old man vs a 16 year old girl and a 26 year old woman.

What if you detailed it merely as "both are above the age of consent, there is a ten year age gap"? Or "both are above the age of consent, one is a minor"? Minor and ten year age gap? Any of these with different combinations of genders specified?

Shit like this is why I believe we need to do more non-Aella style research into the mass psychological effects of rape on the whole female population. Even if you have not been raped, if you hang around enough women you will have at least a few friends who have and will project their damaged view of sexuality onto you inevitably. This leads to bullshit like this where we pretend because some maladjusted people are into something we shouldn't judge a guy who is cool with his partner crying during sex.

I think it's pretty well established by actual researchers that rape fantasies aren't a super uncommon fantasy for women. However a few important points:
1. Rape fantasies probably stem from the idea of "permission to be horny." Repressed women get horny but feel guilty about it, if they imagine a scenario where it's "not their fault" they can flick the bean without issue.
2. The typical rape fantasy vs Aella's version: The typical rape fantasy is probably along the lines of what you see in a Jap dating sim or bodice ripper. A handsome, aggressive, high status man singles you out from thousands of women. He's possessive and protective, you're the center of his world. He wants you so bad he can't control himself, etc. etc. It would obviously be maladjusted IRL but you can see where the fantasy would appeal to basic evolutionary drives. Aella's rape fantasy, on the other hand, is getting pumped and dumped by a gang of men who enjoy your pain and will vanish into the night once they're done. Aella exaggerates the frequency of the latter (helpless, denigrated, evil men) by conflating it with the former (valued, chosen one, high status man).
3. There is a world of difference between 100% safe imagination during private fap time, and actually attending a gangbang full of strangers. Once again Aella's trying to borrow the, well, not respectability but you get what I'm saying, of a zero risk fantasy to justify the high risk behavior she wants.
 
The typical rape fantasy is more like "intrusive thoughts" than some desirable scenario women dream up for enhanced bean flickage.

For whatever reasons society caters to these fantasies rather than dismissing them as irrational or condemning them as bigoted phobia.
