People want to gamble on politics, and with a fairly small selection of elections going on, a controversial mayoral candidate in a place like NYC is ripe for betting. I, like most people, couldn't name the current mayor of NYC. So much of the things I've seen are related to his odds on Kalshi and Polymarket - I think they are driving more attention then there would've been in the past.
