When people say "energy drinks" sometimes I think they just mean those pure sugar ones with B vitamins, basically motor oil like the original Monster.

What about one with more juice/milk/etc?

Does it make a difference or is there something inherently bad about these?

I see "energy drink" like "assault rifle", a loaded term.

do people not carry around pocket beans anymore???
Everyone carries around pocket beans, at least I still do.

Energy drinks fuck me up every time, in a way that coffee doesn't. I think I'm super sensitive to L-Theanine and the other non-caffeine additives?

Black coffee and a banana is an elite preworkout, cheaper and healthier than an energy drink. Preworkout is a bit of a crutch in my opinion.

I think it's the B12 influx.

every single monster has 500% of the daily b12.

others have less.

Caffeine and sugar are both highly addictive substances, which is why BIG SODA loves to put loads of sweeteners and heart-pumping drugs into their expensive drinks so that youngsters can get addicted to it.

The issue isn't the jolt, it's when people rely on them whenever they feel tired. Bad news: taking caffeine while tired as heck will only stress out out rather than wake you up.

Coffee is good in the sense you have to drink it like you drink wine: either analyze the complex flavor of the bean roost, or just chug it and endure the cheap bitterness. Like wine, you can enjoy it by yourself, with a special someone, in a restaurant/café. Energy drinks are for immediate consumption: they shouldnt be made to be enjoyed, but rather be of utilitarian use.

I've never heard of vitamin B12 problems. Obviously, sugar bad, and artificial sweeteners probably bad. And if you chug >1000mg of caffeine fast, you could overdose (not fatal, that's more like >4,000mg).

I caved to my impulses and tried Celsius and I actually like it a lot. They come in redbull size cans and have a lot of vitamins in them comparable to a vitamin water. Its energy vehicles are green tea extract and guarana seeds. I am on a very strict diet and if I didn't drink these I would be unlikely to have any caffiene at all. That being said due to diet I have more energy than before anyway, but the Celsius definitely helps get me going or keep me going. I mainly enjoy the sweet taste and vitamin content because a lot of vitamin rich elektrolyte mixes cost damn near as much as the Celsius can.

Just be careful, those have an unreasonable amount of caffeine in them, drinks with 200mg per can were originally designed as preworkouts for lifters to chug before pushing their physical limits before they got popularized by gamers and anorexic girls. Celsius tastes good and goes down really easy so they're dangerous because you barely think about how one can has triple the caffeine of a Red Bull, and if you don't consume much caffeine to begin with but go straight to these, you're setting yourself up for heart problems down the line

I only drink one of the small cans per day. I have a family history of heart disease and previously smoked for a decade. None of us survive life, but I appreciate the concern. I am hopeful the strict diet can reverse some of my past retardation.

I drink this shit, it has a reasonable amount of caffiene per can (100mg) and no 5000000%DV B vitamin stack. it's a little cloyingly sweet to my taste, but it doesn't have that energy drink taste of frontloading with an ass load of artificial sweeteners to mask the rancid piss taste, and it doesn't use aspartame or stevia - which both taste like absolute shit IMO - opting instead for the much more palatable sucralose. it also doesn't make me feel like shit like most energy drinks do. I never take the claims on the label at face value but Amino Energy does really feel like somebody tried to make a sane energy drink mix that doesn't taste like drain cleaner and doesn't overload your body with chemicals. you can also get it in powdered drink mix form.

vitamins are solid particles that get filtered out of the blood by the kidneys if they're not absorbed. the actual intent of adding massive amounts of B vitamins to an energy drink is to literally overwhelm the body's ability to absorb them, ensuring you get the maximum possible energy spike while the excess is harmlessly pissed away. this only becomes a problem in two cases: if you have shitty kidneys, or you drink so much of this shit (and not enough water) that it literally cakes up in there. in both cases you get kidney stones, which can seriously fuck you up over time. this is one of the ways excessive energy drink use can destroy your body. of course, this isn't something that happens if you drink two in one day or whatever, this is the kind of shit that happens when you drink like ten Monsters every day for ten years. maybe not even then, idk, somebody with actual medical expertise would have a better idea here. it depends on a lot of factors. but I personally do not like subjecting my organs to needless dietary stress, which is why I generally stick to plain coffee with whole milk, unless I really need a kick in the ass.
