It's this weird form of gatekeeping among city dwellers. A populated area has to be a certain level of shitty and dangerous or else it doesn't count as urban and you're just "LARPing".
I'm not sure if that's a genuine urbanist or not, and probably Jason took one look and had a knee-jerk to "US", because at least half the time urbanists will soy out over a new "mixed-use" development because they think that the "city" is "allowed" to develop that way, and the other half they just haven't heard of them because of very narrow reference pools (the same years-old meme photos).
It's just a belief in karma. You can't just have nice things, they need to be balanced by something shitty, or else it doesn't count
There was one YouTube short (skit) I saw (I'm not going to look for it) where it was cope that homeless people are good actually because they keep the area "affordable", but that's really not how things work. The appraisal district doesn't take that into account when pricing things (most of it is just a bunch of number crunching on a bunch of variables). Adding or removing hobos isn't going to change your rent, either.
The "Igotmine Estates no trespassing sign" is presumably a reference to most red state "King of Castle" laws requiring large, clear "Hippity Hoppety, get off my property" signs on property boundaries to deter trespassers (if criminal trespasser ignores sign, you theoretically can shoot to kill if you fear for your life and/or you have reasonable suspicion they're up to something criminal, like poaching without hunting rights or stealing livestock). So, uh, I guess the mapmaker is pro trespassing/stealing/poaching without facing risk of getting headshot in the face?

I was thinking boomers and their houses in the city, being largely unattainable to anyone else except the ultra-rich. But again, that's more of a Democrat city problem, especially in the Bay Area where those rowhouses are for hippie boomers and rich foreigners, not young families or you and your mates, and it's almost impossible to get houses anywhere near the city center.
They will advocate for abolition of single-family house neighborhoods for upzoning, but don't you dare touch their neighborhood. (Some lefties realize the hypocrisy in this, but most don't).
Second, the mans fear of death by mass shooting or random shootings is irrational, more than half of all guns homicides are gang or related to a wider crime so unless you aren't a thug it's not that big of a concern.
Even then, if you browse A&N, how many of those gang incidents are just random incidents and not people looking for trouble? There was the story about some guy in Florida--can't remember his name but it was something dumb like Foolio Coolio or something where he announced that he'd be going to a specific place on social media to celebrate his birthday, and his rivals were just waiting in the Holiday Inn parking lot to ambush him, or there was another one where some black guy was driving around the side streets of some taco neighborhood of California at some very early hour and the "he was a good boy, dindu nuffin" crowd had no adequate explanation as to why he was in that part of town.
If you're a criminal and have criminal friends and criminal enemies, stuff like "avoid [neighborhood]" and "don't publicly announce where you'll be at a certain time" never come to their mind.
Additionally, the lower price is due to a little thing called purchase power parity. Europeans make less therefore the food costs less.
Every time I hear about people traveling abroad it's always the same. When Americans go to Europe they complain food is expensive and portions are stingy. When Europeans go to America they admit food is cheap and portions are generous. Even according to
other data the food prices in Europe are comparable to the USA if not more expensive (the exception is Belarus, which is very cheap but the rest of the "cheap food" countries are third-world countries).

I
knew that guy looked familiar, he was mentioned
about a month ago or so with that video, and as I mentioned in my own post I linked, surprise, surprise, I found that the "dangerous" road he complained about was just 25 mph, something he had to have known but deliberately hid.
No surprise he has to all but outright lie to make a point.
