I don't know why side 1 has no spiritual nourishment whatsoever. No church, Synagogue or even a mosque.it doesn't seem to have any industry or anything that the town makes it can take pride in. This looks like a town for exclusively upper middle yuppies with no cheaper housing for others, and I mean actual cheaper houses and not section 8.
The union hall being a similar color and shape of the church made me think that it was its left-wing analogue. God is dead, the unions are your god now, citizen.

Do these people simply hate everything except bicycles and public transport?
Yes, they even hate the concept of flying cars if that makes any sense (I'm not referring to airplanes, which they also hate).

I think they hate the idea of anything that's inaccessible to someone without a new worth higher than $100 and competent enough to operate a vehicle larger than a bike.

Some of the more radical ones hate bicycles because they're personal vehicles and want public transit to be the only way to get around.

It's a pretty old image IIRC and is from a time when liberals were more fedora tippers and weren't as open about their own spiritual morality revolving entirely around blacks, gays, and foreigners.
It's a classic as I always think it's always funny that these never have any religious buildings or any indication of any industry or something that is productive outside of consumption businesses.

If this was updated for modern sensibilities side 1 would definitely have a Mosque right next to some LGBT center, it's all too blatant now that that's just some AWFL NIMBYland suburb on the edge of an actual Democrat city which looks a lot more like side 2.

Yeah it's likely to look like pockets of a upper middle class suburb that is protected from the decaying aspects of the rest of the city that's ignored.

Well Walmarts suck but I would like a store with a GREAT doughnut selection (most supermarket donuts suck) and selling all the firearms they legally can.

Why H-E-B doesn't sell firearms at all is perplexing. Too woke, perhaps.
My regional-ish* supermarket chain has an outstanding bakery, doughnuts included.

*"ish" because in its many-decade history, it's survived acquisition by larger concerns, sale to a private equity fund, another acquisition by a giant food company, even was going on the block but proved its case and is (I think) flourishing struggling vs national chains, but brought in a new and locally-grown CEO recently. In any case, the doughnuts were a hit at a company/ group event recently, even more than a boutique baker's offerings at a prior event.

Safeway/Albertsons and Kroger owned companies apparently vary a lot depending on the division.

It is very Bush-era/early Obama-era, a time when Portland, San Francisco, et. al. were nicer before the chickens came home to roost.

Tokyo has farren... birrions must drive

The fact that they're not disappoints me.
Department stores used to sell guns here (Canada) too. You could buy literally anything from Simpson-Sears, even houses. I'm pretty sure that department stores over in Europe sold sporting goods too so it's just more hurf blurf Ameriga sux nonsense

EDIT: I know it's sincere but that Your Country on Democrats/Republicans pic feels like a stealth troll. The differences seem to imply that Democratopia will shut down mines, mills, farms and power plants and replace them with... nothing. The people of Democratopia have nothing to do all day but sit around in the library or union hall and complain about the massive job loss.

The best part is that hunter just unloading on the stupid bird right within city limits, get FUCKED you gangly-legged flying shit factory

I love the fan's admission that in order to be a proper urbanist city, there needs to be "poor people around to ruin [residents'] vibes".

It's this weird form of gatekeeping among city dwellers. A populated area has to be a certain level of shitty and dangerous or else it doesn't count as urban and you're just "LARPing".

It's perpetually hilarious to me that the euphemism they always seem to use for this is "poor people", since there is objectively more poverty in the village where I live now vs. the city I moved away from, yet the amount of crimes committed in the village and surrounding township is orders of magnitude lower.

It's just a belief in karma. You can't just have nice things, they need to be balanced by something shitty, or else it doesn't count

Though poverty and crime usually strongly correlate, it's the blasie attitude to crime and safety I don't take these clowns seriously.

I think it's more crab bucket mentality than anything. They hate having to step over zombified junkies and not relaxing on public transit no matter how safe they claim it is so they resent the suburbanites, who in their mind have fled all of that and should be forced to suffer through it with them.

Reminder that this is what Democrats think their cities are like versus Republican cities:

Lol, town map unironically looks like a map of Bartlesville., Oklahoma. The city formed as an oil boomtown (its the former headquarters of Conocophillips) & there genuinely is churches next to quick day payloans and gunstores 'cause Oklahoma. Oil wells on the outskirts of town 'cause it's Oklahoma. Meat processing plant 'cause, well, its Oklahoma (there's actually a really bougee family owned meat process plant just outside of Bartlesville that I believe processes grass fed beef for expensive food co-ops & fancy mail order steak catalogues. Like, perhaps the food co-op on the right side of the map! Like, where does the mapmaker thing beef cuts comes from?)

This is part is especially funny:

The "Igotmine Estates no trespassing sign" is presumably a reference to most red state "King of Castle" laws requiring large, clear "Hippity Hoppety, get off my property" signs on property boundaries to deter trespassers (if criminal trespasser ignores sign, you theoretically can shoot to kill if you fear for your life and/or you have reasonable suspicion they're up to something criminal, like poaching without hunting rights or stealing livestock). So, uh, I guess the mapmaker is pro trespassing/stealing/poaching without facing risk of getting headshot in the face? 🤔😵‍💫

Hey, wait...is the casino a reference to tribal casinos (which do indeed exist in Bartlesville). That's raycist! 🤬

Anyway, the funniest thing is, a few years back, there was an attempt to gentrify the Bartlesville downtown area and make it more friendly to bicyclists/attract hipsters, but all that led to was (I shit you not) attracting homeless encampments of methheads with suspended licenses ('cause no actual cosmopolitan hipster is going to move to downtown fucking Bartlesville, when they could move to a real metro bughive city).

TLDR, these racist pro-colonialism fuckcars bugmen continue to advocate for the total eradication of my people/our way of life, not to mention and our traditional industry that provides economic opportunities for our tribe (running casinos). 😱
