1. He lived in Utah, a conservative state, born to a conservative family. The gun he used was his grandfather's hunting rifle. He undoubtedly had experience with firearms, and must have handled the one he used on several occasions.
2. 250 yards is a difficult shot with Iron sights, but peanuts with an optic. This is multipled if you have a really nice optic with good magnification (like the one used, which was around $1500)
3. .30-06 is still virtually point blank at 250 yards, which is right around where it begins to drop.

Its not a hard shot, and in fact a very easy shot given the equipment.

There's been a months worth of time for investigation since the shooting and so far the feds still haven't charged him or anyone else with some sort of conspiracy, It's possible that there is a lack of sufficient evidence, but that just doesn't seem plausible. Tyler's most likely motive for killing C.Kirk was because of his views on trannies. The shot was fired immediately after Kirk mentioned trannies. If trannies were the motive, it puts Lance in the frame too. Apart from a murder weapon and CCTV, Tyler left nothing behind but a thread of messages implying that his boyfriend knew nothing about it all. That way, should Tyler get ID'd, Lance can show the texts to "prove" he knew nothing.

Motives don't spread by association, they aren't a communicable disease. We don't have any evidence to support what Lance thought about Kirk or his involvement in the crime. If law enforcement had anything he would of been charged by now.
