I don't understand what compels him and people like him to seethe about people being kind. I get the aversion to making small talk with people you barely know, but I live in a conservative area and I manage to get out of this by just politely ending the conversation before it goes on too long. Or if I'm in a hurry, which I often am, I just tell them that I am. Hell, if you really just don't want to talk to people you can tell them that and they'll usually leave you alone. You can just be honest with people. Life really is that easy.
