Ive just realized why the Democrats and the Media are having such a melt down over Trump turning the White House rose garden into a social club and knocking down the east wing too make room for a ballroom.

America, the nation, has a crown. All nations have crowns. But not all nations have gone through the act of literally MAKING a crown, to be the physical manifestation of the State and the People. Those that have done so treat these objects with extreme reverence. Even actual monarchies dont trot them out on the daily, and avowed Republics like France have recently discovered what Happens when you shove the physical crown that represents the metaphorical nation into the corner of a museum. Maybe not something that terribly important too the Liberal curators of the museum. But something deeply important too the rest of the country.

Which brings me to the White House. It is not "Just" the executive mansion for the Presidents personal use. It is the closest physical embodiment to "the crown" America has. When the press reports on what the executive branch is busy doing, they never say "secretary dumb asses even more insignificant ass licker has told Fox News the following." They report "white house sources say". The White House is for all intents and purposes the physical manifestation of the American Nations authority. Could probably do a deep thunk on how interesting it is Americans ascribe this veneration to a family mansion rather than a bejeweled head piece.

That said though, the apoplexy is now explainable. The left faction views Trump as unworthy and illegitimate. An unfit monarch putting on airs and "wearing" something that is not his to wear. The Right faction by contrast views Trump as eminently worthy for the "Crown" and thinks there is absolutely nothing wrong with Trump making the mansion fit for his purposes and sticking gold and marble ornaments all over it like he is an Arab oil sheikh.

But the more interesting thing by far is that he has DONE it. He didn't do this stuff the first go around. That more then anything else says something about Trumps second term vs. The first term.
