I’m no pickup artist myself, but I believe Steven uses a combination of negging, trauma bonding (telling the story of how he was raped as a child), and guilt (sharing revenge pornography) to create a potent mix of dread and arousal. Then he hits you with the “yaya mmmm i’d love to make out with your little feetsies” and it’s game over.

Also, that's not trauma bonding, that's trauma dumping. Trauma bonding is when you traumatize someone through abuse and create a bond with them over it. Basically it creates a dynamic where you harm someone and are the only person who can make it better, therefore making that person become dependent on you to feel some sense of resolution. Like Stockholm Syndrome. (Hey, Melina's from Sweden! They must be primed for it over there!).
He benefits from both, though. Plus I think negging works like a very minor trauma bond because it's meant to make little digs at someone's self esteem and then be followed up with positive comments.
