"Trust me my dad works at Nintendo moment" but I spoke with my zoomer cousin who is in a private hs about cars earlier. He said the lot is mostly filled with newer used cars. Think Hondas and Toyotas with at least 30,000 miles on them. Some kids get an older truck or SUV from their family but fewer parents are buying their kids new cars and those that were had fuck you money. Said a good value buys were Jeep GCs and Mazda 5s but those prices were hovering around $20,000 for a used cars thats 1-5 years old depending on condition, mileage, etc. Most parents have accepted this and make the kid pay for insurance or part of the car payment if at all.
No ones working and paying for their car on their own, its out of the question. Nobody will pay a hs kid wages that they can afford it on their own, unless its an absolute shitbox.
All my friends out of college have purchased their vehicles cars used except one who bought a base Kia which drives like a underpowered scooter.
Edit: Paying for a new car is dumb, but they should not be pushing $50,000, for those of you looking at the dealer prices, you gotta include tax and tag, plus dealer fee of $500-$1500.
