One quick rabbit-hole later and... it's been done before and they had better do it with this renovation! I will 1000% buy a piece of The White House Trump Tore Down™️

In 1950 when Truman was President he insisted on a major White House renovation ("this place is a dump" - Harry S. Truman). Much of the original wood had to be removed and pieces of that were officially sold - often made into gavels that are still available today. Some of the blanks intended for gavels that were never made were later cut up into smaller pieces and sold again.

Yeah sure, I guess it's totally normal they must show how secure their government is by purging chunks of the entire government at several month intervals in a way that totally doesn't mirror the hostile politics of every communist regime in history.

People do not understand that the market clearing price on debt-financed assets is whatever monthly payment you can afford. If you can afford $600/month for 5 years, if the interest rate is 6%, you can afford $31,000. If the interest rate is 20%, you can afford $23,000.

Yeah I don't really care that much dude I just pulled the information that the penalty for corruption is death in China from memory because I watched a house of cards episode about it.
You are focusing way too hard on the China thing like I said to the other person. It's not just China, in most countries if you were doing shady shit with illegals or just doing generally greasy things, you'd be in deep shit. Here it's business as usual.

I missed this earlier, but there's that derisive laugh again. Is this something like the hands thing where it's just cultural, or is it something they tell them to do in those pamplets/posts they pass around?
e.g. I can't find it again, but I remember seeing a copypasta they were sending around a while back around how you shouldn't film protests and how people need to be on-point to block people filming by intimidating and blocking them.
