Wrongfully arresting a federal law enforcement official in the course of their duties could expose them to federal criminal liability, from obstruction (misdemeanor on the low end) to kidnapping a federal official (life in prison). It doesn't even matter if they were ultimately exonerated. They could be held awaiting trial for years.

You're not going to find a whole police department worth of people who want to tour the federal prison system that badly.

You are overthinking this.

If a cop is told to arrest a fed they will. Lots of cops would love to nail one. The idea that they would catch federal charges wont enter most of even the Sergeants minds. If you think Jonquavous in Mobile Alabama doesnt think being poo leece makes him untouchable i envy you.

The reason they dont is because law enforcement is heavily relationship based. The golden rule of most state and local police is they are focused on how to leave the state and local police and most would love to become a fed themselves.

Also the feds need the locals and at some point the locals will need the feds. And i am not talking about just law enforcement but all kinds of soft power stuff.

They don't really have a great name because Progressive has mostly been hijacked by the crazies, so just calling them Bernie bros is easier.

In saying this, a large chunk of Bernie supporters have been a massive aid to Trump and been supporting him since 2016. I think we also need to remember that Bernie changed pretty significantly between 2016 and 2020, going from a Socialist Dem that had weirdly conservative views on immigration and 2A, to a much more standard Dem in 2020. His audience now ranges from edgy IFunny/4chan kids who love their racism and sexism, to die hard AOC types that will vote blue no matter who to stop orange Hitler. When I talk about Bernie bros, I more mean the former not the ladder. That group has their heads mostly screwed on straight and are fully capable and willing to work with Donald, a far cry from the current Dem party. If I want anyone running the opposition/modern Dem party, they are easily the best outcome given they don't hate Trump supporters and may even keep Trumps' immigration and 2A policies going.

Also, they are pretty much the reason RFK and Gabbard are in Trump's staff. Both are very popular with that audience. Clearly even Trump views it as valuable to show some good will to them.

A large chunk of Gabbard's original audience were Bernie supporters. Hell, I am pretty sure she was building herself up to be his VP back then. I remember her mom-ing him quite a bit seeing as Bernie is a cuck to opposition. Gabbard was going around and shooting down the accusations like Warren's "He is secretly a sexist" bullshit. She was also getting big with the usual flippant Bernie supporters like ShoeOnHead and even Joe Rogan, building herself with that strange Progressive audience that goes in-and-out between Trump, leading to the inevitable joining in 2024.

This, but also, much of the RFK audience are the same Bernie bros who usually flip. Biden got a nasty surprise thinking that RFK would be a honey pot for Trump supporters, only to have "Democrats" begin leaving him for Kennedy.

Progs actually don't give a flying fuck about anything the founders said. Most of the time when they reference the founders they are trying to use it as a tactic to discredit what more traditional and conservative people view of our Republic.

They are deceitful like that and the more high IQ ones know what they are doing when they do this. They don't care about the past, natural law, etc. They care about mob rule. They want to vote for everything and cannot fathom the fact that sometimes a life time appointment to a position guarantees better impartiality as opposed to having an election (SCOTUS for example).

I would not expect the best and the brightest to work their entire life to run for an 18 year term on the bench as opposed to someone working hard their entire life for a lifetime appointment to the bench.
 
Bernie's initial appeal was:

1. Anybody But Hillary/independent identified.
2. Colorblind safety-net.
3. Bit of sanity on border and guns.

The BernieBro thing comes from Democrats deciding that calling Bernie supporters sexist and racist would be a good way to win a Democratic primary. This included straight up saying that a picture of Bernie Sanders fighting for civil rights in the sixties wasn't really Bernie Sanders. Don't believe your lying eyes. They also went hard on the colorblind policy=racism idea and it stuck. This campaign worked with white women and African American voters who determine the outcome of democratic primaries and lots of people besides them just plain didn't want socialism for various reasons. The dems also didn't like any sanity on borders or guns and also wanted Hillary Clinton because they prioritized the symbolic victory of electing a woman instead of prioritizing victory.

The claims of rigging the primary are overstated. But, Dems do every possible dirty trick they can within the rules and beyond. They "fortify" everything to try and steer the outcome they desire. On the one hand, that's understandable. It's power politics, you play to win. But on the other hand, they undercut that by also constantly not playing to win or playing to win so incompetently that if they were a pro sports coach they would be fired by now. But besides that, they never actually have a free and open democratic debate to chart the course of the party. It's all just intersectional House Of Cards/Game of Thrones. If Bernie had won, the superdelegates would have stopped him. That's exactly what they are there for. Even if they didn't...it didn't take superdelegates to take down Biden. One bad debate and they tore him limb from limb like zombies and abandoned incumbent advantage when they should have been desperately clinging to it for all it's worth.

I don't like everything Republicans believe, but I consider myself a persuasive debater and they are still open to debate. They will allow the winner of the primary to be their nominee even if their establishment hates him and thinks nominating him is a sure path to defeat or poor executive government. The current head of the Republican party is best known for wanting to make deals. He wants to talk with people until they can shake hands on an agreement and get ready to put pen to paper. The Democrats are a leaderless mob who cheers when someone who wants to debate them gets shot.

If you are a person with the beliefs of 2016 Bernie Sanders and you sit down to negotiate with the Democrats, your initial negotiating positions are very close. If we were talking about a purchase, you are asking for the Democrats to drop their selling price by $10. If you sit down with Trump instead, you are much further away to start. You might be asking for him to drop his price by $1000. But, the Democrats will shoot you before they give you a $10 discount and Trump is at no point going to shoot you no matter how the negotiations go. Who would you sit down with?
