Things are getting spicy on the RIFs show. Today, the unions (the ones suing, who persuaded that Clinton-appointed judge to issue a TRO on further reductions-in-force during the shutdown) filed this URGENT REQUEST with the court. Apparently, they "learned from multiple credible sources" that the Department of Interior is about to go ahead and issue new RIFs (possibly affecting thousands of employees) on Monday the 20th. They emailed the Trump admin lawyer who replied with a curt response neither confirming nor denying, so the unions promptly flipped out and are demanding the judge push up the deadlines and gather everybody for a frantic meeting tomorrow and also they want to amend their complaint and add even more unions to it. Whee

Last night the judge in the RIFs case (reductions in force, firings during the shutdown) granted the unions' request to push up the proceedings today because of the rumor that the Department of Interior is planning massive RIFs, and the judge again needed no time to think about it, she immediately acted.

I agree. I don’t think this is gonna be a catastrophe the way our time in the sandbox was. The population is mostly homogeneous (fat mestizo Catholics) and it’s a lot closer to home. I also doubt the cartels that operate there will appeal to disgruntled Venezuelans the same way Islamist groups appealed to Iraqis. No religious element.

Hopefully once it’s secured, we can start scooping Venezuelans off American streets and back into their homeland.
Idk man we still shouldn’t start another foreign war on principle alone. We don’t need to “save” a bunch of foreign spics from communism to get rid of the spics or drugs inside our own country. Besides, most Latin-American countries tend to stay shitholes regardless of whether or not they are left wing or right wing. Sure we can try to oust Maduro through other methods, but definitely no boots on the ground.

My cope is that it’s too close to us to ever turn into a MENA esque forever war. I agree tho and I think you speak for a lot of
Trumps base if not the majority when you say boots on the ground would be a pretty big line in the sand. I think the only people truly happy about a invasion would be trad Caths, Neocons and trump personality Cultists.

I know a lot of smugly go. “Well I didn’t vote for no new wars” :smug: but they fail to realize the independents and the anti war people who are why trump won sure as fuck didn’t vote for new wars. He needed them a lot more the the legacy neocons who would literally always vote Republican no matter what
I'm sure Trump also knows that boots on the ground is to be avoided by all means necessary. Realistically, the ideal gameplan is that Maduro gets toppled without an invasion, and once Nobel Peace Prize lady is installed, the US military will work with Venezuela (rather than against them) to crush the cartels.

I don't really think an invasion is needed, anyway. Worst comes to worst, he could just fillet Maduro with one of those sword missiles.

Trump should lay them off at 10:59 then.

There was a time when it was an inescapable, omnipresent thing. AOL would constantly spam-mail everybody free CD ROMS offering you free internet time in the early days when the internet first went mainstream.
I found an AOL disk in the dirt under my sister's porch when we tore the old one down to build a new one. I wasn't even surprised. It was mirthful chuckle worthy, even. Naturally, among other things in this archeological layer were several crushed cans of natty light.

Actually though, what are the legal barriers to just blowing up the dictators of small third world shitholes that have no real means of retaliation? Let's say Trump signed the kill order today for Maduro and his top generals to be taken out a the first opportunity that allows for minimal collateral damage. What happens after?

Usually it's them having a protection agreement with a slightly bigger country

I think trump knows boot on the ground is a big no-no.He only got away with the Iran thing cause it was a quick in and out with no notable repercussions.Even then, 'people' like Dave Smith were screeching for him to be impeached and charged with treason.

Again i am thinking a coup is probable, although i do not see the political environment as unstable in venezuela right now, so even that is somewhat unlikely.
