What subtly am I missing here? This isn't like the blink and you'll miss Bee and Ozzie rolling their eyes at Satan saying he was originally the ruler of Hell. This is Carmilla plainly asking Vaggie if she knew angels could be HARMED (not killed) and Vaggie answering with a no.View attachment 8039863

"I just think it's FUNNY!"
I think the writers just wanted to give Carmilla & Vaggie a big dance number where Vaggie learns shit from Carmilla, at the expense of knowledge she should already know, seeing as she’s had the shit beat out of her by an angels holy weapon, from her time as an exterminator when Lute turned on her for letting a hellchild escape. What subtly am I missing here? It could be that because Vivzie is an artist first and foremost (as well as a big Broadway musical fangirl), she thinks in terms of visual scenes and tones first, with any accompanying narrative structure around them coming in at a distant second. This was actually a speculation by Roaming Trend - the guy that made the famous "7 Deadly Sins of Modern Writing" video critique of Hazbin - made in one of his more recent videos about writing and storytelling in general. He noted that artists turned storytellers seem to be so used to focusing on visual spectacle that they forget or don't really know or understand how to craft a cohesive story around those visuals.I think the writers just wanted to give Carmilla & Vaggie a big dance number where Vaggie learns shit from Carmilla, at the expense of knowledge she should already know, seeing as she’s had the shit beat out of her by an angels holy weapon, from her time as an exterminator when Lute turned on her for letting a hellchild escape.
They are so defensive & treat every fart of their favorite characters as precious. Then, not so precious (to Viv or certain writers) characters get to break the in-world rules (that they’ve set, too,) because they can’t be assed to develop backstories that fit the overall story narrative or rules of their world.
It wasn’t some subtle twist, Vaggie has (at best) been a background love interest, suddenly turned into a plot device to move the narrative forward near the end of the first season, when she learned things from Carmilla that she should have already known. It would have made more sense for her to have retrograde amnesia, or anything, than to just ignore how angels can be hurt & killed, seeing as she’s half blind from these same methods that Carmilla teaches her. Hence, it was all about the fuckin’ dance number.
And that's kind of a shame since Vaggie should be one of the most interesting members of the cast. But she's not used for anything except to be Charlie's girlfriend that supports her. She's not even the mouthpiece for expository Heaven lore.I think the writers just wanted to give Carmilla & Vaggie a big dance number where Vaggie learns shit from Carmilla, at the expense of knowledge she should already know, seeing as she’s had the shit beat out of her by an angels holy weapon, from her time as an exterminator when Lute turned on her for letting a hellchild escape.

"The Hellaverse relies on swearing too much" is also a critique that comes from actual adults who have touched grass, because news flash: NORMAL PEOPLE DON'T SWEAR THAT MUCH IRL.
"People are just forcing themselves to hate something because that's what their friends tell them to do."
"Muh Evangelicals! Muh book burning!"
The thing is a lot of the "haters" for the shows were fans previously. They didn't just start blindly hating it out of nowhere, or because everyone else told them to. Most of their "hatred" is coming out of a place of disappointment; because a lot of them do actually want to like it.
Viv, surely you've been online long enough to know that shipping culture is almost always the gayest and cringiest part of any fandom, and that creators earn nothing by wading into it. So why the hell do you feel the need to comment on shipping one way or the other? I mean, beside the fact that you're obviously addicted to social media and just can't shut the fuck up about anything?
Hey, some of her biggest critics right now are former fans who don't like the direction she's taken her shows.Calling it right now Vivz’s final nail in the coffin is gonna be because she’s pissed off the wrong group of fans
It’s all gonna lead to Viv getting eaten by her own
Orson Scott Card, I guess, but he continued to put out good work & never really bothered to argue with anyone. Eventually you just get old and say "whatever I don't care what he said about my faggotry I wanna read a scary story book".Has there been any other instance of a creator who's gotten mainstream success being aggressively turned on by disillusioned former fans?
But I mean that's just another instance of hyper political types getting upset, right? I'm talking about a critical mass of fans who got genuinely fed up with the creator's behavior or the direction they took their work, which is what I can see happening with Vivzie.Orson Scott Card, I guess, but he continued to put out good work & never really bothered to argue with anyone. I sat here desperately trying to think of any already-lolcows in comics or animation who do her bullshit and, you're right. But I mean that's just another instance of hyper political types getting upset, right? And he's the biggest fan of Hazbin.
Vaggie should hypothetically be the most interesting character in the series. Being someone who's technically been on the side of both angels and demons, she should have a unique perspective on the overall picture between heaven and hell. Even better, if Viv were to keep and integrate her original background of being a prostitute who died in the early 2000s, she could be in a very unique position of someone who was judged worthy of being accepted into heaven despite having done a sinful act in life - which could lead to some very interesting exploration of just what it takes for someone to be redeemed and would be, you know, helpful in running that little hotel project of Charlie's.
Latina representation? This isn't the Vaggie from the pilot or concept art where she was once human. Angels shouldn't even have ethnicities but that's more of a theological discussion.
