Is It Halal To Pray In A Room With Dolls And Toys In Islam?

Most people want to know what Islam says about images, photos, and pictures in their homes. It’s a common question, especially when people wonder if having certain images might affect their prayers or if it’s okay to keep them at all.

It’s important to understand that Islamic teachings strongly discourage keeping images of animate beings—things like humans and animals—especially if they are carved, drawn, or made into statues. This is based on clear evidence from the Prophet’s teachings.

Is displaying or keeping images of living creatures allowed in Islam?

No, it is generally not allowed to keep images of living beings.

Muslims are told that angels, who pray for mercy for people, will not enter a house that has these images. This means houses with such images are believed to be deprived of the angels’ blessings.

If there are images of animals or humans, the house is considered less blessed because of it. The images that are forbidden include statues, photographs kept for memory, images drawn by hand or generated by computer, and certain jewelry shaped like animals.

But some images are okay to keep:
  • Necessary ones, like those on ID cards, passports, or banknotes.
  • Pictures that are on things meant to be thrown away, like on mats or food containers, which are treated disrespectfully.
Scholars have clarified that images made or kept in ways that are not disrespectful, such as those on clothing or in necessary documents, do not prevent angels from entering.

Evidence

  • The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:

“The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image.” (Bukhari 3053, Muslim 2106)
  • `A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Prophet said:

“Jibril (peace be upon him) said: I do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image.” (Muslim 2104)
  • It is also narrated that those who make images will be punished on the Day of Resurrection and told: “Give life to what you have created.” (Bukhari)
  • The scholars agree that the images which prevent angels from entering are mainly those of animate beings that are prohibited.
Basically, the evidence is very clear that keeping these images can block angels, and that’s why it’s advised to avoid them unless necessary for serious reasons like identification or security.

Bottom Line

In summary, Islamic teachings discourage keeping images of living creatures that are forbidden. If images are necessary or disrespectful, they are generally allowed and won’t stop angels from entering.

Praying in a place with permissible images is okay, but it’s better if these images are removed or covered during prayer.

And Allah knows best.

Why not stories if Aladdin can be watched due to it having a Jinn?

So a nice picture of your family is "disrespectful" but angels are totally cool with Aunt Jemima and the Gorton's fisherman? Yeah makes perfect sense.
edit: Okay nvm, its because the Gorton's fisherman and Aunt Jemima are kept in your house disrespectfully (lol) that its cool to have them around. I suppose this also means that Sonichu Medallions are also halal, unless you're Chris-Chan.

I'm not that up on Christian theology but I think the J-Man is pretty cool with you praying wherever you're able, catholic kiwis back me up?

This is the kind of nonsense your religion comes up with when it was created by a seventh century warlord who could never have conceived of things as basic as food packaging. A religion so obviously human-made that its infallible holy book disproves itself, through an error that was made by claiming spiritual authority from previous scriptures that the authors of the Quran evidently hadn't even read or had access to. Barnes & Noble was also evidently a modern innovation its authors could never have imagined.

Former Catholic here. I don't recall anything saying you can't pray in certain places. In fact, praying whenever and wherever you feel so inclined is encouraged.
And another thing Christianity teaches (we even had it stressed to us in Catholic gradeschool) is that a church is people, not a place.
Matthew 18:20
20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.

Pretty sure you could pray in a strip club and it'd still be a valid prayer. Hell, you could accept Jesus into your heart in that strip club.

For the love of god Abdul, get rid of those funkopops, you're a proud sand warrior of jihad, not a fucking redditor

Jibril was very stacked in the anime.

I definately want her to enter my house.

Though of course Roon is the superior waifu, she will enter your house. Locked doors and pictures are no obstacles.

Can you imagine being in the Muslim world before modern times, with pretty much no pictures anywhere because it is "haram" to draw pictures of any living beings? At least in medieval Europe, there may have been relatively crappy-looking arts depicting seemingly expressionless people, but at least there was arts which was not condemned as sinful.

The interesting thing is that the Islamic World only really became strict about this within the last 100 years or so. Plenty of Ottoman, Persian, and Mughal art contains representations of animals, people, and even angels. The prohibition of images was understood to only strictly apply to God. You could even depict Muhammad, but usually with a cloth covering his face.

If you compared the 17th century Islamic world with the 17th century Christian world, it'd actually be a fairly tough call as to which was more pious (or repressed, depending on how you think about it).

What happened was that Salafism and Wahhabism, both extremist, fundamentalist sect of Islam, took off in the early 20th century. There are a bunch of different reasons for this, but the TL;DR is the Ottoman Empire being dismantled and the Saudis coming into oil money.

I remember a decade ago one of the Malay sultans (Islamic country) coming out against this hardline Islamic practices imported from the Saudis and middle east - perhaps this is more of an insight into how those Ottoman, Persian and Mughal interpretations of Islam would have been. Look at the depictions of women in the Ottoman empire etc.

It doesn't say what kind of image, not once in the entire thing. That means that anthropological interpretation becomes important. Also, I will never get over the Prophet's pure disdain for one of the best creatures on Earth: the loyal pupper.

Oh that’s because dogs will defend people in their house who are violently attacked and that goes against the muslim philosophy of being violent savage retards.

It really is such a shitty religion followed by stupid gross brown people. No photos of your dead grandma, but if you have a "disrespectful" photo of a person on your food wrapper that's okay!

In Islam, the first thing Jibril does is fucking throttle an illiterate man for not being able to read. Keeping him out of your house seems like an absolutely positive thing.
