The trainer didn't say that the problem was the shock setting or the length of time the dog was in place. The problem was using it in that situation entirely, which is exactly what the "dumb bitch" you were responding to said.

It's a parasocial response. There can be a sexual component, but there doesn't have to be. I'm pretty susceptible to this. I've watched some YouTubers for a decade or more, and there's some part of me that feels as though they're my friends, even though we've never interacted and they have no reason to even know that I exist. I'm self-aware enough to understand that this feeling is nothing more than an illusion, so it's just this goofy thing my brain does, but it's probably different for those who aren't that self-aware, are ruled by their feelings, or are just plain dumb.

I don't think it's a mental illness, per se. I think it's more a thing where that part of the brain that's responsible for group bonding is maybe a little sensitive or a little overactive, and repeated exposure to someone's face, voice, or both is enough to activate it.

Streamers also want, on some level, for their audience to be parasocial. For that part of your brain to malfunction. To care about the shit they spew out, to give them attention without having to give any back beyond a vague acknowledgement to the audience. That kind of attention melts people's brains, whether you're receiving it or dishing it out.

Holyfuckingshitballsbatman! The absolute worst thing you can do for joint problems is make a pet, or a person from that matter, sit in the same spot for hours and hours. He’s actually trying to say he does it for her own good? Dude is a straight up demon, but what can we expect from someone who views their pet as a literal slave? A pet is a family member.
