Yeah the thing is that the non-establishment left in this country used to seem much more reasonable and were even seen as better than the right among young people. This was because the left used to actually be more class-focused and economically focused rather than race and culture war focused, at least in an optical sense. While the right was flailing around supporting Israel, destroying the middle class with free trade, giving amnesty to illegals, starting forever wars, and supporting the post-civil rights status quo for the leftists while cracking down on anything paleoconservative and being very lame with the moralizing censorship, the non-establishment left wing used to at least give lip service to the concerns of blue collar workers and they were the ones that were at the forefront of protecting free speech and culture. They eventually gave this away because a lot of their more sane positions were just salad dressing to oppose the right wing and they adopted many of the same moralizing of the fundamentalists they opposed. Perhaps this could also be explained by mass immigration making the non-establishment left less white and thus more succumbing to race-grifting and identity politics.

When I visited the Grand Canyon I did some star gazing, it's really nice. I saw 2 massive shooting stars in just a few minutes. I also saw a spooky ghost. Apparently there's a type of cloud that forms suddenly over the canyon, and it gets lit up by the sun, even though the sun is set. It looks like a spooky ghost though. Soybeans are unironically serious business. I've been wondering how less of a market for soybeans will effect crop rotation, as soybean plants nitrogenate the soil. Less soybeans -> less nitrogen -> lower yields for other crops, although this would be a multi year problem.

It's been very interesting watching the Democrats implode since Trump won. They had 8 years to solidify their gains with Obama, but they've thrown it all away. Remember when Florida used to be a swing state? Remember how the Democrats historically controlled the House post-WWII? It was also patently obvious they cheated in 2020 when there were 20 million fewer votes on election day in 2024. That gap closed weeks later due to mail-in ballots and states like California continuing to count forever. I know people hate Trump and whatever, but it's hard to look at the political future of the Democrats when all they have are Abuela and an illiterate Ken doll.
