The soybean issue is one can't be avoided whenever China comes up as the Chinese have historically imported a lot of them from the United States. I'm pretty sure a similar situation came up during Trump's first administration so honestly at this point continuing to grow soybeans and relying on Chinese buyers to purchase them is a massive gamble considering the current international political environment.

Way too costly and too much work for no returns. Red mud is mostly stable oxides, like Fe2O3. Being stable, converting those would require a shitload of chemicals just to produce basic iron. Iron is 100 USD a TON or so.
