All DVDs, Blu Rays, and VHS before them in Japan even non porn get an ID referencing the production studio and whatever number they want to use. For ex a music performance blu ray I wanted to find online but couldnt is WPZL-31658, afaik WPZL is Warner but a lot of studios and publishers have multiple of these.

These are well known for JAV because piracy is very common.

The dubious legality uncensored sites and FC2 seem to have just kept up that tradition.
