Firstly: nice going, dude! Makes you feel so much better about everything you do in life, eh?
Secondly: you can make a significant other very self-conscious as you improve yourself. You remind them of all the things they're slacking on doing, and sometimes people take it out on you instead of their waistline.
If one examines it purely as an observer, it's as though they're creating their very own self-fulfilling prophecy - "he/she is going to leave me because they're better than me now" or whatever. People have to want to change before they will change, and if they don't want to change? Well, they'll sometimes opt to try and drag you back "down" to their level. Same idea behind a sober former alcoholic's old friend group, etc. Any big positive change can bring this phenomenon (whether man or woman, too).
>Wonder why I don't just chew through women half her age or hookers at this point
>Realize it's literally cheaper in the end
