In short, they were fired for violating their non-competes when they launched the Zip Tie Tuning channel. This was after LMG put the kibosh on a car focused channel, in part due to a downturn after the Gamers Nexus videos. To quote: "The amount of damage his videos did to the channel cannot be overstated. With lost sponsors, terrible community sentiment, and some really good talent leaving the company because they did not sign up for death threats." He then goes on to be somewhat critical of Steve's videos but readily admits that LMG had "an incredible number of issues."
The video is astoundingly bad take on the GN segment. He says Steve "missed all the number of incredible issues with LMG Steve didn't hit on any of the real problems" instead he outlines Steve only talked about:
a) Linus's greed
b) No existent conflicts of interest
c) Wanting to screw over viewers
He states the company grew too fast but most of the problems were already identified and being dealt with and would be solved in the coming months. But instead he states they were solved publicly in a week.
If you contrast it with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGW3TPytTjc the first 26mins of 46 mins simply deal with the rush to publish and the horrible testing and inaccuracies in their tests. The back half deals with
* conflict of interest ~2mins (framework investment, noctua cross branding)
* Billet labs ~7mins
* Pwnage mouse ~2mins
* community ~2mins
* recap ~5mins ( talking about how how the brand on one hand reviewing then the other is accepting sponsorship for conferences).
I think the GN video was a good overview of how you can compromise your standards by accident or maliciously.
So, let's forget all of the coverage you can go see for yourself. Let's just take Alex's coverage at face value, let's even ignore the GN coverage.
What the fuck is going on at LTT that he's implying GN "missed the real problems".
