Completed the main game with Amon. Went with rocket punch build because its a fucking rocket punch and those are cool. My unoptimized build consisted of just applying freeze and fire to things and watch them dissappear after taking alot of elemental damage. My only complains with the game are:
- Unskippable dialogue
- The whole collect-a-thon on the map
- The shitty path finding

Other than that gameplay feels good. Gonna try Rafa next since he and Amon are the ones im most interested in(C4SH also is on my list). Will try to UVHM with all characters to mantain the tradition that ive done throughout the games(although this will take me a long ass time) That said i recommend the game in deep sale and when they fix their shit.

They will fix the unskippable dialogue on the first big patch, that's what they did for 3 anyway. Funny that they didn't do that at release because so many people bitched about it when 3 launched.
I haven't played a Borderlands before but I got BL4 to play with normie friends who normally I wouldn't play games with, since our tastes are different, and I gotta say I'm pleasantly surprised.

I haven't played a looter shooter since The Division and this is pretty engaging. The plot is whatever, some of the gags are actually amusing (there's a few good side quests so far), and getting loot feels fun.

My only real complaint is that the level scaling is kinda funky at times and Ripper Queen is instantly murdering my Rafa build. Also the little line to guide you around is hard to see sometimes and doesn't stay around long enough. Standard open world junk problems.

I expected WAY more cringe out of the game after the bl3 horror stories. Its weird finding an AAA game tolerable, especially when Gearbox is usually a bunch of hacks.
It gives me a lot of hope hearing that people liked 4, because ignoring the horrible story and dialogue, the actual gunplay of 3 is really really fun, credit where's it's due.
And when you get bored with the game eventually, you can use hacked weapons that break the game and gearbox actually has been cool in that regard. They don't care about people using modded out OP gear.
I'm still waiting until the entire game goes on sale for like $10 or less on the Xbox store, because it eventually will. I will consider that my theoretical refund for buying 3 on day one.

The core gameplay has always been good, it’s just all the Made-for-Reddit plots and characters. I’ve always just listened to podcasts while playing so I never get to hear what they say and generally don’t give a shit about character designs since it’s an FPS anyway.

how borderlands 3's lore could have been fixed:
>keep all the vault stuff from 3 the same
>jack's eldrich knowledge from TPS ending showed him the destroyer
>became obsessed with keeping the vault closed, even willing to unleash the warrior and enslave his daughter to keep the universe safe
>this changes nothing from 1 and 2
>lilith and tyreen are both corrupted by their proximity to pandora, want to open the vault at any cost
>holo-jack and rhys hire the 4 vault hunters to keep the pandora vault closed while searching other planets for vaults with stuff that can kill the destroyer
>you have to shoot lilith in the fucking face to stop her, to the glee of every true premium borderlands fan ever
>tyreen becomes destroyer
>tannis uses tech magic to teleport elpis or something, sacrificing holo-jack idk
>bl4 proceeds as normal with all lilith and arjay content cut.
>also there is no troy and maya is still alive

Having played TPS recently I'm actually pretty shocked Lilith wasn't some like, twist antagonist or something in BL3. She went against the better judgement of of Brick and Mordecai and ordered for Athena's execution only to be stopped by a deus ex machina. Not to mention the several times where Athena tells Lilith that she sees the exact same thing in her as she saw in Jack before he "became" Handsome Jack.

Sure would beat the shit out of having to see this mary sue bitch show up in every future borderlands game until this franchise crashes and burns.

Edit: typo'd

Pre-Sequel was farmed out to 2K Australia, the same team that did Bioshock 2, and it is not canon. It won't be acknowledged in Gearbox games.

Technically, it IS canon, as both Janey Springs and Athena, mentions in Tales from the Borderlands (which were confirmed as canon by non other then Randy Pitchford himself) how they met and hooked up on Elpis (i think Athena mentions, how she worked for Handsome Jack in the past and warns Rhys, how power corrupted him or something like that)

And just the fact that Aurelia is a character in 3.

I think it's funny to me how people can still look at Jack as the bad guy and Lilith as the good guy after TPS. I've argued with people online and the biggest argument they come up with is that Jack killed his daughter. No, YOU and Roland killed his daughter without a second thought, Jack merely kept her in captivity out of fear because he saw firsthand what she did to her own mother.
In TPS you find out that Jack got fucked over by his spiteful ex moxie and Lilith, who turned on Jack because he killed a handful of scientists because the sake of the planet was at stake, but they turn around and basically create a black hole and kill countless Hyperion workers on the ship who were just working or hiding from Dahl soldiers. Borderlands 2 was the story of a man trying to bring order to a planet full of enraged psychopaths, and gets stopped by a bunch of idiots.
If you change handsome Jack to the white man, Pandora to Southside Chicago, and the vault hunters to antifa, that's the way I look at Borderlands 2 lol.
TPS only hammers home the fact that Jack was right, he was the hero, he was doing the best he could even though he was over his head, and despite being human and flawed like the rest of us he was genuinely trying to make things better.

It's one of my favorite games not only because the story is so fantastic, but because that world actually FEELS like my world. By that I mean a world that has a bunch of American accents with random Australian ones thrown in lol.
Personal bias aside, I honestly feel that the reason it will never be acknowledged by gearbox is because no matter how the sales numbers were, the fan reaction to the plot was a gut punch to Randy Pitchford.
And he even knows deep down in his heart of hearts that TPS was a better written story with his own characters then he could ever write, and didn't have to rely on gay 12 year old boy cringe shit to be good. It was the best written gearbox game and gearbox didn't even write it.
And that's why Randy, out of childish spite, decided to say it wasn't canon and to do stupid shit like kill Aurelia in 3 for no reason other than "Fuck you for writing a better borderlands game".

Aurelia's complete and absolute flanderization and pointless death is more insulting than even Maya's death in BL3 in my opinion. I've seen fucking absolute retards actually try and  defend that bullshit claiming, "she like, became worse in the handful of years between pre-sequel and 3." Fucking ignore the fact she was one of the few vault hunters in that game who disliked Jack jettisoning the scientists or killing off the CL4P-TP production line.

It's his literal cleansing of anything from TPS. He can't stand the fact that he comes up with annoying, fucking retarded characters that only spectrum riders would enjoy like claptrap, and TPS writers came up with multiple nuanced, relatable characters.
To this day I don't care what anyone says I defend the fuck out of TPS because to me it's just a sold separately, extra long, better written DLC to Borderlands 2.
The best he could muster was Calypso twins lol.

Honestly the game is just a 7 for me, maybe 8 in the future when they add more content. For now is just a fun shooter to pass the time.
Looking at the characters from BL4, I think I'd prefer the cringy twin live streamers from BL3. At least it's SOME personality that COULD fit with the zaniness of Borderlands.
