this is the single most scummy, cowardly thing I have ever read a celebrity do in recent history. talk all kinds of shit, condemn openly and publicly for years, and then doubled down, just to cowardly send a single, puny letter of "i'm sorry" as if it changed anything. I'd be absolutely raging, but all I feel from Rowling's words here is that she is deeply hurt. probably more than anything these grown up children have ever done prior, absolutely wounded. Watson is a transtrender opportunist and a coward on the side, proving that to someone who had seen her and mentored her from child to adult, that she was not above being a hypocrite and sneak to her.
 
What I like the most about Rowling's response to Emma Watson is the tie-in to the myth of the mother in cultures around the world. She's an excellent mythological world builder, so it makes sense she'd reference it.

There's this belief of unrequited love from one's mother that crosses all cultural boundaries: black, white, Asian, Indian, or what have you. "Your mother will love you no matter what." "You can rape and kill and ruin other people's lives but don't you disrespect your mother." So when a child reaches an arm out and the mother turns away instead, there's almost nothing more brutal in nature. It can destroy a person completely. Not even mentioning those with neglectful mothers, as even abusive mothers at least try to show unrequited love in a fucked up way.

I felt my own mother turn away from me when I read Rowling's words. I can't imagine the cold feeling that rippled through Emma Watson. Love gone.

And it's honestly impressive how it once again mirrors the very books she has written.

In the Half Blood Prince, the ministry of magic tries to cosy up to Harry Potter, even though the previous year, it tried to ruin Harry and Dumbledore, because they insisted that Voldemort was back. Harry does not forgive the ministry, despite it being under new leadership, and he is right to withhold his forgiveness.

Am I autistic for seeing parallels between books 5 and 6, and how troon enablers treated her and other TERFs for the horrible crime of not affirming them hard enough? Voldemort himself has so many things in common with the average troon, it's uncanny, despite JKR having no foreknowledge of the rise of transgenderism while writing her books.

Nah, not autistic at all. That's the power of mythological storytelling and what makes writers like JKR and George Lucas resonate with so many people and cultures. There are throughlines in human storytelling around the world and one of the most common is the threat of the interloper. The outsider. The invader. Especially when these invaders can barely masquerade as 'normal people'. The uncanny valley exists as a warning system in our biology to detect potential threats. What makes things worse is your 'fellow' man telling you that everything is fine and infact you are the problem for thinking something is wrong.

I mean, fuck, Harry's entire role in all of the books is him restoring and maintaining the status quo. They are books fundamentally about protecting what we love from those that would corrupt and destroy it. They are quite conservative in nature, regardless of all the progressive bells and whistles thrown in.

JKR touches on universal truths of human behaviour and she is proven right in the real world.

Nazis seemed OK with trans and crossdressers in the way the Iranians are- as a means to make homos look strait. They were not OK with Jews, gays, and people sitting on a trove of potentially embarrassing documents outlining in detail their own depravity in the form of medical records.

Rowling is based as always, but i thinks shes being a little too harsh on Emma Watson's upbringing, Rowling has clearly never known the difficulties of being born without a spine
