Never forget: even when DSP is right he's wrong.
There are lots of games coming out and all of them are competing for your time, yes, but perpetually having something you haven't played before that you want to play isn't a new thing; it's always been a compounding problem every year. Tying yourself to every AAA release every year will break you down. Having options for what to play is not a problem, it just means you have to be more discerning with what you spend your time playing.
This is the kind of problem that Phil invents for himself due to his autistic adherence to release schedules (since he has to get day one views and play the latest new game because he's done that since 2009) and his glacial pace of game completion. I, who did not pay to play two days early, have already completed Silent Hill F's first ending playing at a rather relaxed pace on a higher difficulty than Phil, who is less than halfway through the game. I predict it will be another two weeks before Phil beats Silent Hill F, meaning it's playthrough will take him past the release of Ghost of Yotei and may overlap with Battlefield 6. If Phil didn't play games as the speed of government and focused on playing a smaller amount of games more often (I personally stick to about 3 singleplayer games) he would actually move through games at a reasonable pace and not drown in new releases.
It really bothers me when faggots like to >muh industry into the void because, like any hobby, it's really what you make of it. If AAA games are giving you cancer then don't play them, pick up an indie that you're interested in or delve into some older games you haven't given a chance. Sitting with a filled diaper and seething about COD or some Sony 3rd person dadslop shows me that you don't actually care about your relationship with videogames enough to find new ways to enjoy it. There is always something new to play.

Not to say that I think it's dumb and bad to bring it up, I appreciate the discussion. Phil is not incorrect in saying that there are too many games since there are quite a bit coming out, but it being a "problem" is entirely his own invention for a variety of dull and unforced reasons.
