Every adult in Britain will require a digital ID under plans to be set out by Sir Keir Starmer.

The prime minister is expected to announce his backing in principle for the scheme in a speech as early as Friday, in a ramping up of efforts to tackle illegal immigration.

The so-called "Brit card" would verify a citizen's right to live and work in the UK.

Anyone starting a new job would be required to show the card, which would then be checked against a central database of those entitled to work here.

French President Emmanuel Macron has repeatedly warned that the lack of ID cards in the UK acts as a major pull factor for Channel crossings, as migrants feel they are able to find work in the black economy.

In July, Labour peer Harriet Harman told Sky News that the black economy and ID cards would "make it more difficult for people to work illegally".

The plan will be subject to a consultation and would require legislation to be passed, before being rolled out.

Digial ID cards are opposed by civil liberties groups.

The government previously rejected the idea, which has long been championed by former Labour Prime Minister Tony Blair.

This is a WEF test run. It will do fuck all to curb illegal immigration. People will hire illegals under the table still. or use other people's digital ids to run checks on and hire.
 
You know, I have no idea why you are all being such downers about this. Everything you think this card will allow the government to do, THEY ARE ALREADY DOING. All the ways this can track people, ARE ALREADY BEING TRACKED.

This is a nothing thing. Its a thing you do when you are near forced out of your own party, and want to hold some empty bag of air and say "I did something, now stop going on about it". It will not tackle the "black market job market" because they are already breaking the law. Its like a license for gangsters, they are already breaking the law so this is no big deal. Most of the black market jobs are in places that are flexible with IDs anyway. As others have already pointed out, they rent IDs to use in these jobs, and they can rent the NEW MAGIC ID just as well as the old ones.

The most damage this could do is requiring it for social media signups, which I support, because niggercattle who use social media deserve it.
 
Not falling for the ragebait just yet. What is being outlined is just a digital version of the Biometric Residence Permit that is issued to migrants when they enter the country.

The BRP is the fallout from the last time they tried to introduce a national ID card. It was trialed on immigrants first and then promptly shelved for everyone else because of how unpopular it was (it was a voluntary scheme). I think only 10,000 people registered for a national ID card when it was introduced. So yeah, it was really popular!

Just like the last time they attempted to introduce a national ID, the government haven't really thought about how this is going to be policed if it's mandatory.
 
Bullshit this will be used to make a dent in the migrant invasion, this will 100% be used as a cudgel against the native populace

My favourite part is how they just outright lie. If you can get a job under the table without giving them NI then you can do the same for this. Illegals will continue to work for services and cash in hand as they do now. The only thing this would ever do is set the groundwork for the concept of completely removing cash and mandating a government controlled credit card network.
