The most recent firing squad execution I know of (Brad Sigmon) had the convict seated and restrained, with a paper X target over his heart. 3 rifles shooting frangible .308 rounds fired at the same time at the X target, and the convict was pronounced dead within a minute.

Any consciousness he had would have been short, both due to CNS overload and blood pressure drop to his brain. Frangible bullets break up instantly to ensure all the rifle energy is deposited into the body rather than "ice picking" and going straight through. Chances are good it is pretty much immediate lights out, like what happened to Charlie.

firing squad is very painful for like 30 seconds, then it's over.
lethal injection done properly is 100% painless, it's like being put to sleep before an operation in the hospital.
however if lethal injection is fucked up it can turn into a nightmarish torture session.

In the history of Current Year, there's been several turning points that have made the "woke" cult far more insane than before... and more hostile on anyone who isn't "woke" like the cult members. First it was that circus that was "GamerGate", and then it was TDS after the results of the 2016 election, then it was 2020 and the George Floyd riots "fiery but mostly peaceful protests" (and maybe that January 6th thing later), and then in 2025 it was the ICE raids... and especially the assassination of Charlie Kirk: the fairly moderate "far right" Christian "brainwashed by hate" advocate for smaller governments "fascist" guy. Each turning point makes the SJWs before look sane in comparison.

Oh yeah, and a recurring comment I'm seeing on YT is comparing the reactions of SJWs to George Floyd, and the reactions of non-SJWs to Charlie Kirk ("We are not the same.").

That's why, imo, the suspension was 100% appropriate. Anyone who can mutter something that stupid deserves being made to sit-out for a couple weeks. On the other hand, if my friend is acting like a dipshit and proactively doing things that put me and my livelihood at risk if I go along with them, I'd call that its own kind of disloyalty in kind, or something that lessens the weight of loyalty I feel like showing to a person..

At the very least, having friends who actively make your life miserable is as a strongly extenuating circumstance.

Firing squad is instant. You have 4-6 rifles all aimed directly at your heart, you're gone before you know what happened. Lethal injection you get to put on the mask, watch the needle go in, and wait to fall asleep (best case scenario).

Death row inmates have opted for the firing squad before, its not as slow and painful as one might think.

bullets to the heart don't instantly kill your brain. as long as your brain remains intact and unharmed, you remain conscious.
it only goes out once the oxygen shortage kicks in, which takes a while.

bullets aren't massless photons there's a lot of energy going through you, I'm not gonna do the math but I think 4-6 30-30s are gonna some spinal/nerve damage. I don't know if its enough for instantaneous death but something to think about.
