Without PLing too much, I've lived near a fair amount of veterans and active duty members. Kids of the officers were weirdos (like being a gay furry and getting arrested for sexually assaulting a minor weird), and the kids of the ones lower on the totem pole turned out alright. So it's honestly a crapshoot with how the kids turn out.
